The party exited the spidery lair, with Mandras bearing Koko’s severed arm with him. He hoped the elves of Sylaire could re-attach it somehow. As they progress through the forest, a voice seemed to whisper ‘do you want to return to your time?’. Mandras was taken aback. ‘What would it take?’, he asked. The voice answered: ‘start a war between Ximes and Vyone’. ‘You may call me the Stag – if my offer interests you seek me in the forest!’.
At Sylaire, Sifora told Mandras that the Stag was possibly a legend. Handing over the 6 webs, Sifora went to work on Rarder’s corpse, his body wavered and shook, shrank and expanded – only the bald pate remained the same. In a short time, Rarder was back with the party – as a Dwarf!
Returning to the spider lair, the party found the ceilings too high to reach, so they clambered back out and Rarder’s troops created a set. Descending again, Mandras and Rarder went up the ladders to cut down webs. As they worked, 3 siders appeared, 2 black and a glossy green one. Kiron, Harlen and Hats engaged them, but were entangled in a web spell cast by the green arachnid. Nevertheless, they were quickly dispatched with Mandras spearing one over Hats’ shoulder.
The party managed to acquire two slates of webs. They continued exploring the locale, eventually taking the spiral track down – the space was too restricted for the ladders. Rarder used the flying sword to work on a web, while Harlin got a second by using his ring of levitation. It was a good thing the party had them, or the task would have been impossible. Wondering where more could be found, Rarder flew up a chute and discovered a lair off of it. Its occupant was an Ettercap, which Rarder promptly dispatched. Mandras then climbed the near vertical surface to inspect the lair and found two necklaces (800 and 900 GP), a ring (500 GP) and 2 bracelets (1300 GP).
Clambering back down, they proceeded to another web, which the two thieves cut down. The whole party then returned to the surface for a break and a night’s sleep.
Heading back down, they followed the only unexplored area and stumbled on an additional web and 3 bodies, one of which was an elf – it was recovered and they took it to the surface.
