- Juttery Jangles (Thief 4)
- Mandras (Thief 5)
- Rarder (Dwarf 5) and Konrad Claver (Dwarf 4)
- Tyrion (Elf 1)
The adventurers quickly scouted around the outside of the villa, peering in all the ground floor windows but not spotting any immediately apparent treasure. Rarder used the Sword of Sylaire to fly up and survey the rooftop patio and, once they’d fought off a furious flock of stirges, the rest of the party shimmied up his secured rope. There they found a hatch leading down to the top floor.
They then proceeded carefully from door to door along corridors, Mandras pocketing some gold from amongst a pile of clothes and filing away some worn legal ownership documents in case anyone back in Ximes might be tempted to pay to stake a claim, and Harlin instructing his new retainer Beerdale to check each fireplace, noting that the flumes split for the floor below.
One room with webs very familiar to what they’d seen on their last expedition put them further on edge, and they flung a lit torch into their midst. As the silk caught flame, two large spiders scurried from the fireplace and perished in the flames. The adventurers’ cheer was short lived as the smoke disturbed a nest of giant ants who emerged from holes in the floor beneath the bed and swarmed Konrad, biting a few time through his armour before the party could dispatch them.
Spying the floor to the other side of the villa as being distinctly rotten, the adventurers opted to return to near their entry point where they’d seen a set of stairs going down. They explored the kitchen and a further room with stairs leading underground. Tyrion started spiking the door shut to avoid anything from below sneaking up behind them, while Juttery investigated the kitchen’s storage and the others breached a door further down the corridor. Just as Konrad kicked open the door and was met by the jaws of a 9ft-long weasel clamping over his arm, Juttery found himself buried under several giant centipedes bursting from a cupboard.
Taking a few seconds to gather their wits, the adventurers divided themselves as effectively as they could between the two fronts. Both threats were dealt with but the dwarf was bleeding heavily and the thief, having taken a venomous bite from one of the oversized insects, was curled up in discomfort. The party exited through the back door and stumbled back to their stationed gang of mercenaries a few hundred feet away.
