Grabbing a few more adventurers passing through Fourtowers Bridge, the party readied for further exploration of the new snake-themed part of the gatehouse they’d discovered. The former captive Giain thanked them again for her rescue but, revenge upon the ogres trumping curiosity, started scouting around for members to join her own band.
Undeterred, the adventurers made their way through the hole in the mosaic, worked their way through the blood-demanding doors with a generous donation from the unbelievably sturdy Grits and opted for one of the side doors in the room of the skeleton battle. It opened to a room with several sarcophagi laid in sunken recesses.
Everyone gave Kelro much rousing encouragement from a safe distance while the elf tapped at each container and prised the lids off. Each contained an almost-but-not-quite-human skeleton, and a lot of jewellery. They did notice that one of the walls bore odd cracks, but were eager to fill their pockets and reasoned that they could deal with it afterwards.

It dealt with them instead, exploding and showering them with sharp stone shards. As the dust cleared, a four-armed skeletal figure lumbered out, limbs flailing. The party hurriedly reformed back into their assigned ranks with the squishier members scrambling back, but it was a torrid time for the hardier ones too. Alerich was nearly crushed, his armour buckling under the weight of the blows, but before it could finish him off the creature was fractured by the continuous strikes from the adventurers surrounding it, and Maistlyn’s magic missile finished the job, blowing it into fragments.
Packs bulging with jewels and an exquisite amulet on a necklace that they reckoned might have more than just financial value, they decided to head back to safety while those with injuries could still walk, but the way was cut off by a small troop of marching skeletons. The walking bonemen lowered their spears and charged, adding Carbel to the list of near-dead.
Gutxi had had enough, and called upon her deity Dekardinis to beat these undead with the Holy Ten-Foot Pole. As the skeletons turned to flee, the rest of the adventurers fell upon them, obliterating them and riding the momentum all the way to the surface. There they pawned off most of the jewels to passing merchants, holding onto the snake-head medallion just in case a black market arcanist travelled by.
