One of them, was the Tribe of the Hoar Fox and they were led by the great prince Kinnuki. All the songs and stories of my people tell that Kinnuki was a fair leader, a fierce warrior, and a kind spirit. He was a giant of a man that stood over 7 foot tall, and he wore the fur's of a great white bear. He lead the Tribe well for many years, but long refused the title of King until he could find a suitable partner. Long, he searched for her, but had little luck. The Tribe grew to a number that they began to organize themselves and in this time their influence spread to cover a large part of this region. In the year 1269, a wizard came to Ice Wind Dale and constructed a tower at a place the Hoar Fox Tribe had claimed as sacred. The Wizard's use of Arcane Power to construct the tower impressed the tribesman and many began to worship the wizard as a God. Kinnuki angry at the deception of his tribe and in turn the wizard went to the tower to confront him but instead found the Wizards Wife Mathilda. It is said, he fell in love with her at once, and rather than confront the wizard he made opportunities to meet with Mathilda in secret. The wizards work consumed him, and Mathilda found herself drawn to Kinnuki's kindness. Together they conceived a child, and ran away together - each of them from the paths they had forged for themselves. The Wizard, mad with rage, summoned 2 demons to track them and kill them. The Demons, failed to find Kinnuki and Mathilda but they ravaged the Hoar Fox Clan and the surrounding area with their hellfire. So much of the great glacier was melted, that the region fell into a period called "The Great Thaw" before returning from whence they came. Kinnuki returned to the region, to find the place the tower had stood empty, except for several crenellations jutting forth from the ground where it had once stood. He collected the bodies of the Hoar Fox Tribe, and gathered them in a secluded place along the glacier and planted a willow tree atop their remains. The tree grew to a magnificent size and still stands, growing strong, flowering despite the endless winter seemingly unaffected by the cold.
