Inhabitants: Ca. 1,600 (80% tauren, remainder spread between other Horde races).

Order and Leadership: There is a large garrison in the village, and its watch are a mixed group of Horde grunts, as the settlement is key to the Horde's presence in Stonetalon. The current acting chief of the village is the battle-wisened tauren shaman Unknown.

Crime: There are no thieves, pickpockets, or other figures of ill repute to speak of at the settlement. There are, however, some occasional supply raids from harpies and kobolds.

Centrally located in the Stonetalon Mountains, Sun Rock Retreat is a tauren village that has risen to prominence as a key Horde location in the region. Historically, the site has been a place of pilgrimages by the tauren, particularly pilgrims seeking to commune with the spirit realm. Its namesake comes from old tauren legends, stating that An'she himself once kissed the surrounding mountains, putting his blessing upon the valley where the village now stands.

  • Easily Defensible Location. There are two ways in and out of the Sun Rock Retreat's valley, and the Horde have been making much work of shoring up both with towers and other fortifications. The surrounding mountains are far too treacherous to be an easy route in or out of the settlement.

Points of Interest

  • The Sun Rock Public House (Services). A large building with room for public functions and gatherings, on top of being the residence and site of office for the village chief. It is also the place from which The Seers of An'she, a group of seers and spiritwalkers, operate.
  • The Sun Rock Horde Garrison (Military). Situated in the hills above the village itself, this encampment and its buildings acts as the garrison and command center for the Horde's activities across the central Stonetalon Mountains. Its acting garrison commander is the up and coming Unknown.
  • Jayka's Lodge-House (Inn). A large house with rooms and beds for rent, located close to the bridge that crosses the village lake.
  • A Smithy. There is a smith in the village that looks to be a place of some repute.
  • The Fishing Docks. South of town there are some fishing docks. Among the regulars who fish from there is the local orc fisherman Grosh Stonehammer, who has been making acquaintance with Gan Jedi.
