Part 7: The Raxus Data Heist

Back on their ship and set to venture onward, the crew decided their next course of action would be to wipe their own slate -- by clearing Imperial records of their presence in the sector, and further so by implicating others in affairs conducted by them.

Key among which, they have considered framing Ozar Pum, original owner of their stolen ship -- "Party Ship Omega", currently under the call-signal "Vagrant" -- for their recent activity on Trivar II. Potentially, they could also shift him in as a co-conspirator in the crew's earlier ventures.

Docking in on Raxus Prime, on the planet's capital city, the crew set to work. The planet had once been the seat of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the CIS, and as such has since become a key point for the Empire to transmit data between the Core Worlds and this sector of the Outer Rim.

The perfect information highway for the crew to tap into, would they be able to break into the city's COMPNOR (Commission for Preservation of the New Order) headquarters. Or, more specifically; the Imperial Security Bureau that undoubtedly would be located higher up in the same building, away from public attention.

What ensued was a week-long effort to prepare for an ambitious data heist. Each went their way to search for information, purchase equipment, and perform reconnaissance. All seemed set for a flawless plan: Madaa Ki and Voda would infiltrate the COMPNOR building via its upper levels, from the roof of the planet's spaceport; Quill would provide cover with a telescoped blaster rifle from a nearby roof; and Jaxx would draw attention from a nearby cantina, as he was the one to whom Quill's rifle had been registered upon planet entry.

Quill made her way to her vantage point without trouble, ready to provide much needed surveillance for Voda and Madaa Ki. The two, in turn, managed to infiltrate the building via an upstairs balcony. Jaxx, for his part, chose to spend his credits lavishly on drinks at his chosen dive, hoping to draw as much attention as possible in doing so.

However, complications quickly ensued -- Quill had been spotted by security cameras, and guards were headed for the roof to investigate, forcing her to dive for cover. Voda and Madaa Ki, both clad in dresses bought in the city, had been spotted by the night-shift guards at the ISB headquarters. And Jaxx, king of his personal party, had drawn the attention of a pair of ISB agents whose intentions looked to be more than to simply share in the festivities.

Voda and Madaa Ki killed two security guards as they explored their way through the COMPNOR building, their efforts to find where they needed to go slowed down by the sheer complexity of the place -- and Quill having gone radio silent for them so that she could evade capture. When they eventually did find their way to the data centre they sought out, it was a quick job to make matters work. They wiped the records of their own actions wherever they could, and in any place possible they planted red threads tying their actions to their old friend Ozar Pum.

Though, to make maters work, they found trace evidence that Rolaa Ki had been recently moving through the sector, to the planet Ossus in the Adega system. If the records were to be believed, he was operating with a crew registered as The Bond of Shadows. Once the job was done, the two quietly extracted themselves from the location, and used their already acquired cocktail dress disguises to mingle into the party at the lower floors of the COMPNOR building.

Jaxx, for his part, had been asked to join along with the two security agents who had spotted him. He managed to slip away from the situation by provoking a besalisk patron at the club, and then sneaking out via the kitchen into an alley outside. There, just over the street, he slipped into a tattoo parlor and convinced its manager to help him hide away.

The manager, a todyarian named Syreh, showed sympathy for Jaxx's situation and offered to find a way to sneak the gank out of the trouble. He had Jaxx hide away in the cargo space of a landspeeder, and successfully ferried the pair of them back to the city's spaceport to rendezvous with the rest of the crew.

They still had not heard anything from Quill, and prepared themselves for perhaps mount a rescue operation when she finally managed to evade the security agents who had singled down on her rooftop location. As the others had completed their parts of the heist, the crew in its entirety managed to rejoin shortly after, and they all took off from the planet.

Madaa Ki sendt out a distpatch to contact the droids. The encrypted message asked for them to keep an eye out for any new information concerning Rolaa Ki.

Then, the crew made their way to Sleheyron to speak with Thakba the Hutt. Doing so felt like a safer approach for now, than to try and go toe to toe with Rolaa Ki in their current condition.
