Dear Lord Kal, Baron of Kalsguard,
Though I do not have all of the answers, I do understand at least some of the reasons behind the most recent of your fun and games. Please rest assured that I have informed Miss Holmes that I was abducted as I neared Kalsguard; she understands that I stumbled upon the kidnappers as they were abducting the children and that they took me prisoner in order to keep me quiet. Alas I have been unable to provide any useful information to guide her to the true perpetrator.
However, it is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that I am unable, in good conscience, to continue in your service. By the time you read this I will already be on route back to Bumbleton where I will be seeking employment elsewhere. I understand this will be an inconvenience and have arranged for Francine to stay on as housekeeper at Shallot Hall until you or your wife-to-be deem otherwise. I have also made certain that Miss Holmes can recommend someone to assist with the training of your squire if necessary.
I can say with confidence that it has been my most interesting employment opportunity to date and I wish you the best in your future endeavours.
Yours sincerely,
Henry Chough
