The flora of the Churning Archipelago consists largely of tropical plants that thrive in the warm and humid conditions, where the weather and temperature doesn't change much throughout the year. Most plants flower year-long, with the typical jungle or forest on any of the islands carrying a rainbow of variety. However, there are also a number of natural defenses among these plants that are extremely lethal, such as poison, or active defenses like whipping vines or spikes. Some plants are even ambulatory, and will seek out prey actively in their territory. Some examples are listed below:
- Dragon's Teeth: Despite its name, this large fern is harmless. The plant emits a radiant warmth and glows in the dark, granting it its name. Certain animals that require this extra energy feed on Dragon's Teeth to supplement their diets. The entire plant is edible, and the whole structure can grow a new instance of the plant, so the archipelago has a subspecies of this on each island. Tastes savory.
- Wandering Hunter: A three foot tall bulbous plant that moves on vines like skittering legs. The Hunter seeks and consumes animals, and is especially dangerous for its ability to hide in unconventional locations to ambush its food sources.
- Nettlevine: Edible vines. Cultivators need to be careful, as the seeds and flowers of this vine are coated in little needles that inject a toxin that makes it feel like your skin is on fire.
- Dancing Bloom: A rainbow assortment of small flowers that grow on the jungle floor. They shine at night. Actually extremely toxic to eat for most animals, but they have medicinal properties dependent on what stage of their life cycle they are in. The flowers sway on their own due to their capillary action, thought to entice the many species of butterfly to them.
