A Culture of Feline Asceticism
The Calti, or catfolk, live on the mainland as a people that grew in the mountains that border the three major nations. They originally inhabited little villages surrounding temples, where they trained in the arts of martial combat and honed their physical prowess to achieve a state of personal enlightenment. These days, the Calti take up this philosophy in a variety of ways, from promoting their ideals of unworldliness to the peoples of the world, to entering foreign militaries to challenge their physical might.
Subcultures
The Divine Way: Most calti that live in their motherlands believe in the idea that the best way to achieve a state of ascendant enlightenment is by communing directly with the gods. These calti are reclusive, and study for most of their lives in training to attempt to contact the deities of the world and come to know the many designs these entities have for them. They reside in the old monasteries that still dot the mountains.
Keepers: A small culture of calti belief it is their duty to guide the other races of the world to enlightenment, instead, and see their actions as a sacrifice of their own ascendance for the greater good. Sometimes these calti live as family trees of military officers and soldiers, acting as fautlessly loyal members of a country's military, while others take a more personal, meddling approach to the world, acting either in the open or the shadows to prevent mortal corruption.
Justicars: Similar to Keepers, these calti believe that enlightenment is acceptance of the laws from one's betters, and acting as the most efficient cog in the machine. Often they act as court councilors or servants, and they take their jobs more seriously than even the most devout of other calti, in most cases.
