Aquos, Lady of the Sea

Aquos is considered the key spirit/goddess of the Way of the Sea, represented by a female member of a given kobold or humanoid race with soft and merciful qualities. Aquos is considered a spirit of guidance and protection, providing those that live among the islands with insight into the world and guiding them to and from the various islands with the knowledge gifted upon them from the stars. She was once a patron goddess of the dragons as well, but the old draconic religion has fallen out of fashion after the fall of the draconic civilization.

Those that pray to Aquos typically do so by partially or fully submerging themselves in sea water, and assuming a supplicant posture for a small amount of time. They may also offer tribute by drifting baskets of food out into the ocean, believing the goddess will consume the food when she finds it, and that the consumption of the food by fish or birds represents her acceptance of the meal.

Aquos is thought to be the source of the Eternal Storm, having woven this arcane phenomenon in order to protect the kobolds after the loss of their draconic overlords from the depredations of the mainland races. Other races of the islands have similar legends about this storm.
