Rax'tulan

Rax'tulan, (Pronounced Ra-tuh-lan) is a particularly old variation of the common kobolds found on the Churning Archipelago and is most likely the last of his kind. His people, while not numerous used to be prosperous. The Tu'axtic (Pronounced Too-a-tik) were a tribe that slowly dwindled after the secrets of their creation were lost. Most kobolds would view his people as barbaric and an unfortunate reminder of the old ways before the kobolds became civilised.

The Tu'axtic people lived in the wilds and prayed to Lyzotz, the goddess of the natural world (Pronounced L-zot-z)Lyzotz granted Rax'tulan's people boons, ones that made them closer to nature, stronger, faster, near ageless, more animalistic and could even command the beasts. However one day these boons stopped being granted to the newborns of the tribe and the rituals that granted these boons to their new converts stopped working. Some people believe that the elders of the tribe did something profane to spite Lyzotz's wrath. Over time the Kobolds of Tu'axtic integrated into the newly flourishing kobold civilisation and while these old ways are not completely forgotten they are seen as profane to Dhoros, God of Civilisation (Pronounced Doh-Ro-s) and his zealot like followers and live as a distant memory to some kobold elders and mere whispers to the younger generations.

Rax'tulan, seems to come and go from the civilised kobold lands when he pleases. He never bothers people, only returning sometimes to trade trophies from his hunts. Very few people understand what he actually seeks or why he still seems to carry the boons of his god, even when the rest of his kind have all died or had their boons stripped. But naturally, stories about his mysterious Kobold circulate among those bold enough to whisper them. Some people believe that it could be perhaps due to the boon he was given, being able to turn himself invisible seemingly at will. Some suggest that he was able to hide from the scornful gaze of Lyzotz, when she purged all of her followers she simply missed him. Whatever the reason, the church of Dhoros has tried to have him arrested a few times, but after evading their capture with relative ease they deemed it better to not waste their efforts on a single heretic that only seems to show himself every year or so. Now, all that Rax'tulan truly seeks is to feel her gaze once more. To perform hunts of such magnitude and splendour, to protect nature and all it contains, that the goddess notices her forgotten follower and she still deems him still worthy of her boons.

Rax'tulan does not wander aimlessly though, he follows an old Tu'axtic prophecy: The prophecy predicted that Lyzotz would one day meet her equal in another god and that they would struggle and war for dominion over the world for millennia until eventually, it brought the end times. It predicted legendary heroes would rise up to bring peace between Lyzotz and this other god and save the world of a slow and painful death. Rax'tulan believes this other god is Dhoros, the natural enemy of Lyzotz and that the end times are coming for the world and that he must find skilled heroes who could aid in bringing this prophecy to the correct ending.
