MH - Underlava Cave

Description:

This cave is dug 2m beneath the lava, the stairs leading into the cave are very steep, they lead to MH - Platform 3

Inside there is a magical circle and a table with a book on top of it, under the table there's a treasure chest.

The text in the book explains how to do the ritual to trigger the magic circle.

Dangers:

  • Stairs: 
    • The stairs are very steep, they go down 8 meters (DC 15 str acrobatics check or fall down the stairs taking 3d6 bludgeoning damage).
    • Using a rope on the stairs requires DC 7 str acrobatics check.
    • Dashing through the stairs causes a failed check and the creature will fall down as soon as the dash took place.
    • The stairs are so steep they count as difficult terrain.
  • Temperature:
    • The temperature in this cave is hotter than everywhere in the dungeon (DC 15 con save every 1 minute or take 1 level of exhaustion)

Monsters:

A Lava Child is tied prone with ceramic chains to the ground. He is there to act as sacrifice while the calling circle activates. HP: 34

If the child is loose it will try to run away into the lava, waking the sleeping Young Red Dragon as he jumps in. HP: 171

Treasure:

The iron chest below the table is locked with a puzzle code

Puzzles:

Calling Circle. The book explains how to trigget the magic circle, the words: "En taro adun, Galaasos. Zak talladas" should be said out loud while a small or larger living creature is on the circle, this will summon Merlin's illusion onto the circle while consuming the creature. That is the only way to see him, the ritual doesn't work on other magic circles.

It takes 10 minutes to read the ritual rules and understand the method.

Chest Code. The lock is the same as the entrance to the dungeon. 9 tiles scrambled, assembling them in the right order reveals the letter "M" in infernal script and unlocks the chest.
