Beyond The Thousand Isles to the west is rumored to be a vast continent of desert and jungle, watered by giant rivers and home to mighty pyramid cities and powerful magics. The human natives are black as night, the culture is old, rich, and highly sophisticated but extremely isolationist and xenophobic.
The autocratic God-King rules over them from his great palace-city, keeping his people and lands isolated from the outside world with sword and spell. He only allows foreigners in one isolated island reservation, Bawaaba, so the natives of The Thousand Isles know little for certain of the rest of the vast continent.
Still, the trade fleets of The Thousand Isles visit the continent each year, riding the easterly trades, and even the barest sliver of trade the God-King allows brings untold riches to the Merchant Houses of Haven.
