Crypt of Madora the Mad Abbess

Crypt

Madora the Mad Abbess was the third Abbess of the Abbey of St Ursula and the shortest in tenure. A skilled alchemist, in conjunction with Monastery of Saint Brutus (which she assisted in founding) she pioneered the sherry and port manufactories that were the initial source of revenue for the abbey.

She was known to brew extremely powerful and unusual potions, some of which are still in the Abbey Library. However she had a bad habit of tasting her own concoctions, a practice which eventually turned her hair a shining silver but also radically shortened her life, and also in the end, drove her mad.

She died at the age of 37 which overall the Abbey saw as a blessing as her madness and paranoia had become so acute that she was becoming a danger to those around her. Some say she was poisoned. \

Even after her passing, her ghost was restless, so the Sisters had no choice but to ward and seal her crypt.
