The Thousand Isles are home to a polyglot of cultures and as a result home to many religions, Religions and philosophies from both east and west, from Valoria to Great Mbo and even beyond meet and merge here, giving way to a bewildering array of gods and beliefs.
Nonetheless, two faiths stand above the rest in terms of popularity.
A relatively recent, homegrown cult founded by a citizen of the Isles who ascended to godhood only 250 years ago, the Mithric faith has swept the area to become the dominant orthodoxy. The religion currently exists as two major sects, the Orthodox Church of Mithras (far and way the largest and richest) that is the state sponsored religion of the large states of The Inner Archipelago and the Northern Church of Mithras, a less popular branch mostly found in the The Northern Reach. The religion has also spread beyond the cradle of it's birthplace, pentrating Valoria to the east and even the challenging the cult of the god-king in Great Mbo.
Recently the Orthodox Church of Mithras has undergone some internal conflicts, as a growing movement to reform the religion and return it to the original teachings of Mithra has sprang up. This members of this movement, collectively called The Reformistas sprang up in Haven Towne, the heart of Orthodox Church.
Voodoo is more a set of beliefs then an organized religion, however it is very widespread across the islands. A mishmash of the old religions of the First People (the indigenous inhabitants of the area) combined with beliefs from Great Mbo, and elements of the Mithric faith, it exists in many variations, has no established creed or orthodox set of teachings and practices, and can vary widely from island to island. Voodoo venerates spirits of the islands called Sconosciuto, who are said to grant great powerful to their worshippers. The religion is watched over by a set of informal priests and priestesses called Hogans or Mambos. This religion and its practitioners are very popular among Creole and the First People who often are also simultaneously devote followers of the Mirthic church, seeing no conflict between the two beliefs.
