The land slopes upward from the harbor, cresting in a large hill about a mile from the sea. This hill, Bryn Tor, is almost 1000 feet above sea level, its slope relatively broad and gentle, and it is crowned at its peak by the Paderian College of Sorcery. A long, board avenue winds up the hill from the Central Docks, The Street of Artisans. The lower parts of the hill contain shops for artisans and tradesmen; the higher up the hill, the more well-to-do. Gradually they give way to great houses, the homes of the gentry of the town.
Pader is the second city of The Antilles and current capital of the civil war faction supporting the young king Ferdinand VI.
Before the civil war the city was primarily famous as the location of the Paderian College of Sorcery.
The city is a smallish walled harbor town whose economy supports export and import of the agricultural inland areas of the eastern parts of The Antilles.
Now it functions as the administrative and logistical center for the True Kingdom. As a result, despite the general economic and social decline brought by the long civil war, the town itself has undergone something of a boom, greatly expanding both in size, population and importance.
