The large feathers that adorn many cars often come from the Sirin, birds large enough to ride, that naturally made their nests in the mountain range north of the city but these days are bread to be steeds of the aristocracy and the cities super rich.
There are three main types of Sirin.
Kaybar
Kaybar are the most highly prized. They are fighting birds – they are fast, agile but cannot be ridden long distances.
Charn
These birds are enormous but slow. Often measuring over 40ft in length, they carry goods and take the elite between the cities of the larger world.
Timels
Slow and small, they are the most obtainable
and are traditionally used by ‘cloud farmers’ on the North Road for keeping
their flocks of Potbellied Vultures in order.
