The progenitors are creatures of enigmatic and incomprehensible origin. Known to many as aberrations in other parts of the multiverse, progenitors have been a part of the universe since before the Numina or the Caelum Galaxy existed.

Not much is known about progenitors, and even less of what progenitor life was before the Numen Cataclysm. They are most commonly found in deep space and in the outer reaches of Intergalactic Federation tradespace, where a combination of mystery and solitude has allowed them to survive. Progenitors are generally solitary even to their own kind. Despite this, some species and individuals are exceptions. It is near impossible to find a progenitor within "civilized" society, as many are fearful of their mystifying appearances and unintelligible logic.

Many progenitors are rumored to be biologically immortal, meaning they likely have recollection of life prior to the sentient beings we know today. Between their eldritch tongues and cryptic goals however, it has been difficult for scholars to ascertain any relevant information.
