The governing body of all vampires in Iralas. They seek to maintain a semblance of peace and balance with the other races.

The Brotherhoods

Within the Court exist several brotherhoods, who pursue different approaches to further the vampiric cause.

The Brotherhood of Strings believes that the best course for vampires is to rule over other races. They strive to put vampires in positions of power, to subtly influence the world to shift into a direction more favorable for vampires. Radicals within this brotherhood believe that domination is the vampire's natural position in the world; moderates believe that this is the best way to support a greater good and prevent collateral damage.

The Brotherhood of Shrouds believes in subterfuge and stealth; the world is best off not knowing about vampires at all. Some believe this means that vampires should live solitary lives, separated from each other and the world, to minimize the chance of being noticed. Others believe that this means that vampires should build communities in far-off remote locations and strike without leaving witnesses.

The Brotherhood of Daggers is the militant arm of the Court; since a vampire cannot harm another, they recruit outsiders to take care of Outcasts (those who reject the Court) and Bastards (those who became a vampire outside of the Court). It commands a vast network of informants and spies.

The High Lords & Ladies

The Court is lead by a High Lord or High Lady. There are said to be five, each ruling for five centuries, before going into deep stasis once more and allowing the next in line to take over.

The High Lords & Ladies vary greatly in views and agenda, meaning that the Court has taken wildly different stances throughout the ages.
