Few know what exactly happened on the night before Summer's Start.
What is known, is that around 21:30 in the evening, a sudden and intense blaze erupted in the general area of the cemetery of Arat's Mercy in on Nobility Hill, Heaton.
This firestorm spun around in evergrowing circles from its point of origin, until it had reached a diameter of about 150 meters.
Anything flammable in that circle went up in flames, reduced to ashes; wood, buildings, people.
The inferno disappeared as quickly as it had grown, leaving behind the partially molten stone skeletons of the buildings that once stood here.
Official estimates assume 79 perished in the flames; unofficial estimates assume over 100.
The area was smoldering and smoking for multiple days afterward. Even though the blaze caused no indentation on the ground itself, the people of Heaton took to calling the affected area "The Crater".
