Battle of Vuoto Rano

The initial battleplan as drawn up by Carlos Morena, Alejandro, and Cassandra consisted of utilizing the Tanza Militia (blue), Treva Militia (Green) and 8th Battalion (yellow) to lock the Elleseandi forces (red) between the Silva Ciminia forest and Rano river.

That would allow a small detachment led by Cassandra (purple) to strike from behind.

The plan, while theoretically solid, was always considered a long shot by those who participated in it. The primary goal was to slow down the Elleseandi forces in order to grant Tanzians more time to evacuate; in a way, this goal was met.

The execution of the plan, however, failed, due to several factors:

• The Elleseandis outnumbered the Val Tanza defenders 2:1, which allowed them to 'break' the trap that was set for them with sheer strength.
• A new form of arcane artillery was deployed, allowing the Elleseandis to strike anywhere on the battlefield.
• The circling maneuver by Cassandra through the forest proved too slow; the Elleseandis had broken the lines before Cassandra could get in position, leading to Cassandra having to attack early and later break off her attempt entirely.

After a brutal clash of armies, the Val Tanza defenders were mostly wiped out. Nezia had been slain in the early moments of the battle, Carla Worn and her Treva Guard had fallen during a desperate attempt to get to the arcane artillery, Carlos Morena had been captured, and Alejandro had fallen during a charge on the western flank.

The battle had lasted 3 hours - hours which proved vital in the evacuation of the city.

This victory left the road to Tanza wide open, and led to the Siege of Tanza.
