Gandortal

The peninsula on which it is located is shielded by the Woods of Edholon, which have stood as a natural barrier for thousands of years. The protection this provides has made Gandortal a safe haven for many minority races. It houses a large Elf population.

The Wood Elf population in the north use the fertile lands to produce plenty of wood, refined goods, food, and wine. Historically, they are also the caretakers of the woods and guardians of its secrets. Those living north of the Riverlands tend to have a symbiotic relationship with the forest. This area is home to many notable druids, rangers and worshippers of nature. 

The Riverlands are populated by a large mixture of races. Its central location makes it a large trading hub, with the Yath river connecting the eastern port city of Nandoroth, the western port city of Lumithladr, and the capital city of Essealor, which is located on the shores of Passa Lake.

In the south, the land is crested by the Thellerion Ridge. The climate is notably warmer here, with the sun burning hot in the sky most months of the year. Farmers try to carve out a meager living here, and tend to live near the rivers sprouting from the mountains.

Religion is connected to many parts of daily life in Gandortal. Its people are free to follow whichever gods they desire, though the official state religion follows Finrimbel. The Lord of the Sun is worshipped especially in the south, due to the large impact of the sun on daily life. The south houses a number of Houses of Light; families that over time, have produced many great paladins and clerics that follow Finrimbel, and are used as keepers of the law all over Gandortal.

The Riverlands see a large mixture of religions, as peoples from all over Iralas have settled there over the years. 

Those living close to the Woods of Edholon tend to worship Arat, the patron of the Mountains and that which lies below. Those living in the Woods are said to worship Zepha, the Lady of Decay. This may be due to the prominence of swamps, spores, rot and diseases in some parts of the Woods.

Gandortal is a Representative Democracy. This government is a representative democracy, where citizens vote on officials who are elected to represent them.

Their values are egalitarianism, pacifism, and spirituality (though expressed in different ways, through the Pantheon and more pagan beliefs). All customs and cultures are welcome.

The land is ruled by the Council of Five, named after the five members. Members are elected for life. This council has the following composition:

• A member from Nandoroth, in the west
• A member from Allombath, in the north
• A member from Lumithladr, in the east
• A member from Formene, in the south
• A member from the capital, Essealor

• Filial devotion to family and parents
• Harmony with nature and existing life
• Excellence in one’s profession or trade
