Nova Amaril is a young, spirited Half-elf cleric of Sandail from Helladris. In her quest to find a new purpose in life and to learn more about her god, she joined The Raven Shield and faced many dangers.

Youth

"Blind, all of them. They follow their faith without thinking of the consequences, they are as mindless as the undead they despise. But I will not, I will ascend, I will be the first Dawnbreaker, to break the dawn."

-Nova Fingolor

Nova's youth wasn't what someone would call ideal, born in the very religious Fingolor family, she was grown up with Finrimbel, lord of the sun, for as long as she can remember. All of Nova's life was about worshiping the sun god without question.

But Nova's family noticed she wasn't like them. Her pure elf blooded mother could never give her a kind word, it was always about someone else, and how she should be more like them. Nova's father, a human, was too afraid to oppose his wife and was also dragged along blindly into the faith of Finrimbel.

Finding a New God

Nova tried her best as long as she could, to worship Finrimbel, but she couldn't, she just couldn't give away all of her thought, all of her being, to a deity she didn't feel a connection with. All of this caused Nova to spiral into some dark places in her head, the more she tried, the more her family noticed she just wasn't like them, and eventually, even her father started to ignore her.

One day, Nova was crying on top of a hill, it was dusk, and the moon started to shine through. tears glistering in her eyes, she looked up at the beautiful view. She stood up, and lost time, suddenly she fell, right into the ocean. She ascended to the surface of the water and watched the moonlight, her only light in the dark. For the first time in her life, Nova felt a connection, she felt an embrace, she felt a gentle heath rising over her skin and through her hair. She heard a whisper in her ear.

"You will be safe in my light, my child. accept me, and shine my light, in the shadow, I am Sandail, Lady of the Sea and Moon, and my light is here, for you."

This experience made Nova feel embraced for the first time in a very long time, that evening she went back to her family house, but not for long.

She looked in the mirror, and noticed her new appearance, by accepting the moon goddess, she accepted her powers. The blue mark on her skin and her discolored hair proved that she was no longer worshiping Finrimbel. Her mother noticed this right away, she screamed in agony at Nova, she was a disgrace and she was to leave immediately. Nova packed her stuff with pain, but didn't look back.

She left her family household, with the mindset to never return. She would prove to the world that there are more ways to serve the light.

She would channel Sandail's light, without being blinded by it.

She will ascend.

Whatever it takes.

Joining the Party

On 18-2-642 5E, Nova's path crossed that of Silaqui, Yanzu Jormop, Nijel the Destroyer and Makaria when pursuing a bounty on a griffon.

Joining forces with the party, she found herself wrapped up in the affairs of Adaran and the sword Nightthorn. She saved Duri Ukal's life during the Battle of Old Oak Hill, earning his gratitude and respect. In Heastead, she also obtained a notable tome from a curious salesman, in exchange for a vial of her blood.

Nova's naturally sharp senses helped the party navigate the Whisperwoods, where an ambush by a green dragon led them to a confrontation atop a ruined tower. Nova hesitated for a split second during the confrontation with the monster, which led to Silaqui being dragged along and dropped to the ground many stories below, seemingly to her death. This hesitation and regret followed Nova for a long time afterward, even when it was revealed that Silaqui had survived.

On the approach to Heaton, the party met a boisterous Andres Athard III, with Nova taking his attitude very personally.

During intense meditation, Nova sensed Sandail guiding her, more than she had in a long time.

Time in Heaton

On the 22nd of Midspring, 642 5E, the party reached Heaton and subsequently The Hog's Head. Nova, together with her companions, learned of the true nature of Yanzu's mission, and the existence of The Raven Shield. She became good friends with Gasha Ugdug, and later invited Nix to come live with them at the tavern.

Nova aided in the case of the Tome of Telhoubat and met Maloc during this endeavor. Afterward, she met two individuals who would impact her both greatly; Klirr, a druid in touch with nature itself, and Elrik, a herald of Sandail. Elrik gave her a puzzling riddle, with the solution leading her to the Lunar Blade.

In these few busy days in Heaton, Nova also sensed a threat closing in on them. This threat was revealed on the night of the 24th of Midspring when an Elleseandi operative named Cereborn attacked the Hog's Head.

In the attack and subsequent battle, which led the Raven Shield to an underwater complex deep underneath Heaton Bay, Nijel the Destroyer and Makaria fell. Especially Makaria's sacrifice, seemingly empowered by her god, left a great impression on Nova. Nova finally left Cereborn to die in the exploding base.

Growing Reputation

Following the loss of two of its members, the Raven Shield took a few days to rest, while still taking smaller jobs on the side. Nova received a prophecy from Elrik.

The Raven Shield played a major role during the events of the Summer's Start Banquet, being tasked to find out who petrified Elenora Sinask. The perpetrators' plans were foiled at the last moment when Nova sniffed out that the culprit was a shapeshifter, who promptly escaped. Nova survived being at the epicenter of The Heaton Inferno.

Following the events at the banquet, Nova and her friends ventured into the Whisperwoods to learn of a way to heal the survivors of the Inferno. They succeeded and got the chance to make a deal with a fae to boot. Nova does not remember what transpired here.

On the 2nd of Summersdawn, 642 5E, Nova founded The Followers of the Way together with Elrik, an endeavor she would spend a lot of time and resources on. Through the Followers, she helped many less fortunate citizens of Heaton, and built quite a good reputation for herself and Sandail.

Nova participated in the Tournament of the Arcane Arts, but did not qualify for the finals.

She continued to serve as an upstanding member of the Raven Shield, and fought Glindryss in the Elenspine Peaks. She proved vital during the brutal Battle of Dragon Head Pass that followed.

Assassination Attempt & Coma

Following some rest after the fight with Glindryss, the Raven Shield was attacked in broad daylight in the streets of Heaton by a skilled assassin and his hired muscle.

In an attempt to close in on her agile opponent, Nova found herself one-on-one with him on a rooftop. The assassin dodged her spell and hit her twice with his poisoned sword, causing Nova to fall from the roof.

She was tended to by Maloc as the assassin made his escape.

Nova's exact medical situation is unknown; she is stable but completely unresponsive to any and all outside stimuli.
