RP rules for avoiding bad RP (a.k.a. plot holes and cringe):
1. No gods
2. No time travel
3. No dimensions
4. Avoid retconning unless absolutely necessary (that is, to change the lore about what already happened)
5. No lethal attacks ( e.g. a machine gun blasted at a normal person's head )
6. No infinite wealth ( i.e. "I can buy this beer easily, have a billion dollars" )
7. When you are attacked, take the hit according to how strong it was ( unless it's from a literal weakling crippled midget, you should at the very least step back and say "ow" after being hit )
8. Don't use force to solve every single problem, it's RP, not an FPS.
How to make a GOOD RP character:
1. Choose a distinctive look ( if you are changing forms without any reason, you aren't really playing a character at all )
2. Have a distinctive voice and quirks. ( e.g. a pirate should sound like one and talk like one, "yarr, if ye landlubbers can't swim in a pool, ye have no hope for the seven seas..." )
3. Have moral traits that govern how the character acts. (e.g. are they loyal to the point of self sacrifice or will they backstab others to get what they want? Are they a law abiding snitch or are they a ruthless criminal?)
4. A character should have mental weaknesses and temptations that can be used to be manipulated by others. For example, a greedy character should change their mind with the right price, or a narcissistic character should always be baited by insults about looks, a cowardly character should be often intimidated
5. A character should have motivations to interact with others, e.g. an investor wants to make deals to share revenue, a con man wants to get a quick buck, a chef wants to make sure that customers never insult their food, a mad doctor wants to experiment on others without them knowing, a lazy cop wants to do the bare minimum to earn a paycheck and always turns a blind eye to real crimes.
How to RP using a character:
1. Take a motivation of your character
2. choose someone to interact with using that motivation
3. Interact with them while acting as that character.
