Emotional Bloom.
Plants growing from their body react to emotion.
- Joy: flowers bloom.
- Anger: thorns emerge.
- Fear: leaves fold inward.
- Sadness: flowers wilt.
- Romantic attraction: intoxicating blossoms appear.
- Rage: poisonous flowers and choking vines erupt.
Botanical Adaptation
Groveborn can temporarily incorporate plant material into their own body. After spending 10 minutes touching a suitable plant, the Groveborn can gain one trait associated with that plant until their next long rest.
Mycelial Memory
Once per short rest, they can spend 1 minute touching the earth and receive impressions of significant events that occurred in that location.
Grove Sense
If they're inside their parent grove, they can perceive through:
- roots
- leaves
- vines
- flowers
- fungal networks
- insects living among the plants
Rooted Physiology
The Groveborn can literally put down roots.
As an action, they can root themselves into natural earth. While rooted:
- They cannot willingly move.
- They gain resistance to forced movement.
- They have advantage against being knocked prone.
- They gain tremorsense through the soil.
- They regain hit points at the start of their turns.
- They can communicate with plants within a considerable radius.
- They don't necessarily need to remain upright.
Living Wood Skeleton (Living Frame)
Their bones are reinforced with living lignin-like material. The skeleton contains a network of living fibers.
The Groveborn has advantage on saving throws against:
- being knocked prone
- being forcibly moved
- being grappled
- effects that would break or fracture bones
