Fountain of Youth

Recap

Return to Avalon

Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins revealed to Reinette Varonne that he had been asked to acquire the sword Arfod from her and she agreed to discuss an exchange and so after their extended stay in Charouse the heroes returned to Avalon with Abrianna Lucilla Fiorenza.

Arriving in Carleon via the use of porte the heroes realised that the city had lost some of its supernatural aura, nothing had obviously changed but where before everything was pristine and seemingly glowing now it seemed to be stark and uninviting.

Abrianna Lucilla Fiorenza was granted the protection of the Invisible College, though she required the continued presence of the gemstone in order to avoid the enchantment taking hold once more.

Following her discussions with Sir Bors McAllisterReinette Varonne spoke with a local druid by the name of Trystram. She was offered a selection of items and following a few questions she chose to take the Antler of the Horned King which supposedly granted the ability to share an animal's abilities.

Sir Bors McAllister expressed knowledge that Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano had been invited to serve as a body guard to Alejandro Soldano on his trip to the Midnight Archipelago. He suggested Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins accompany him on the voyage and take the opportunity to check in at the Avalon colony of Cerrigdu, along with a possible secondary mission.

Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano meanwhile had been socialising at a local tavern and when things got a little carried away he found a new companion in the form of Kean McMannon; the Inishman helped him out in a small scuffle and then revealed that he was also planning to head to the Midnight Archipelago to meet with some distant family members.

Having reclaimed his father's sword, Don Juan Aldana de Torres bid his companions farewell, returned to active duty and travelled to San Christobal.

On the Way to San Augustine

Upon their return to CharouseAlejandro Soldano was more than happy to employ the services of both Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano and Reinette Varonne as body guards. He had heard tales of Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins's ongoing conflict with Inquisitor Cheryl Martinez and as such was more than happy to offer him passage as well, if only to annoy the Inquisition.

With his apprenticeship completed Leodegan Llewellyn was made a full member of the Invisible College, he made his goodbyes and settled down in Charouse to properly devote his time to research on a number of different topics.

Keeping up on the news regarding Wolfgang von Drachen, Matthew discovers that an Eisen by the name of Dieter Heikkenen had arrived and claimed custody of the villain. As the dracheneisen manacles were his, Wolfgang was of Eisen birth and he had knowingly committed crimes in the lands of Stefan Heilgrund he was turned over to Dieter Heikkenen and had been taken back to Eisen for sentencing.

Heading south through Montaigne you stopped off for a few days at Paix. Here Reinette Varonne was able to employ one Constanza Fellini as a housekeeper and left behind a small fund in order to see to the renovation of her new property.

Also while in town Eustacie Varonne and Giles Varonne insisted on taking their daughter and her companions to dinner, a pleasant meal at a local Vodacce restaurant. After the meal however she was subjected to her mother questioning her love life and asking when she was going to marry Jean Luc Pierre; followed by her father discussing potential business opportunities in the Midnight Archipelago.

Provided with a case of sample materials Reinette Varonne rejoined her companions and they boarded a river boat to Barcino. While on the river boat the group were set upon by thugs who were intent on killing Don Alejandro Soldano, they were however poorly trained and easily dispatched.

Barcino itself was still occupied by Montaigne forces but things seemed to have quietened down considerably since the heroes' last visit. That was of course until some locals decided to set upon Reinette Varonne as a 'Montaigne whore', fortunately they underestimated her and she was able to put up a more than adequate fight until the Montaigne guards arrive to haul the attackers off to prison.

Breaking into the House of Theus

Don Alejandro Soldano and the heroes arrived in San Augustine where La Gracia de Theus was being prepared for departure. While in the city however Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins was approached by another member of the Invisible College and begged for help. It seemed that the Inquisition had imprisoned a number of Invisible College members and seized their research – amongst which were notes on the development of rifling.

Kean McMannon proved his resourcefulness by acquiring notes and information on the Inquisition's base of operations in the area. The heroes waited until nightfall to infiltrate Casa de Gloria, while the others stealthily moved through the library searching for the research notes, Kean McMannon took it upon himself to provide a distraction by stumbling into a few book shelves and punching out a nun.

After destroying the notes the heroes made their escape, but not before freeing the prisoners in Casa de Gloria – an action which unfortunately drew the attention of Inquisitor Markus Keule. Though he was a formidable foe the heroes were able to overcome him and his Defenders of the FaithMatthew "Walsingham" Hopkins of course took the opportunity to throw Markus' artefact mace into the river before they withdrew to safety.

Finally the heroes boarded La Gracia de Theus and set sail on what what would doubtless be a peaceful and uneventful few weeks at sea.

An Uneventful Voyage

The heroes petitioned Alejandro Soldano to take a detour to an uncharted island which they had discovered evidence of, he gladly agreed but on route they encountered a ferocious storm. The ship weathered the storm well but Lieutenant Lonzo Vega of La Gracia de Theus had his arm trapped while furling the sales and had to have his hand amputated.

As the storm began to clear another ship was spotted parting the fog and closing on La Gracia de Theus; clearly a pirate ship it was named The Barracuda. It came up alongside and it's crew began boarding actions, fortunately La Gracia de Theus had a well trained crew and they were able to hold their own against the attackers until the Captain, the infamous l'Requin strode through the midst of the fight directly toward Reinette Varonne.

Even with the combined efforts of the heroes he seemed unstoppable, in fact they quickly realised his wounds were healing faster than they could deal them. He demanded that Reinette Varonne hand over Arfod and refused to believe her claims that she didn't have it. Eventually with many of his pirates defeated l'Requin was driven back to his own ship by sheer mass of numbers. The Barracuda seemed to move independently of the wind and quickly made it's escape while La Gracia de Theus was left damaged and limping.

Brimstone Island

It was fortunate that the uncharted island turned out to be real and the ship was able to anchor at a cove to make repairs.

Deciding to map the island the heroes began by exploring the coastline with their cartographer and some of the crew; it was not long before they spotted smoke and discovered a small makeshift encampment. It turned out to be inhabited by a group of pirates, though they were willing to talk and the heroes discovered that the island was used by several groups of pirates as a stop off point but that it remained mostly unexplored as the jungle expanses were haunted and those that entered rarely returned.

Things quickly took a turn for the worse when the pirates realised that the heroes were with a Castillian ship. A fight broke out with the pirates and several crew members were killed before the heroes gained the upper hand. With Captain Rose defeated the heroes decided to commandeer her ship - the Burning Ember for their own purposes. They brought it around to anchor with La Gracia de Theus and in exchange for offers of freedom they managed to get many of the pirates to offer their help in conducting repairs and crewing the liberated ship.

With a few more days to spare the heroes went back to mapping the island, they discovered a few large pools that seem to smell faintly of sulphur but little else outside of the jungle itself. Braving the tree line the heroes moved through the thick undergrowth for an hour before one of the diggers accompanying them let out a scream before vanishing into the canopy without a trace. Pushing on they were confronted by a crazed wildman who identified himself as Wilhelm, he insisted they leave and eventually managed to convince the heroes to at least wait until dawn when it would be less dangerous – then he disappeared into the undergrowth never to be seen again.

The next day they made their way to the centre of the jungle where they discovered the overgrown remains of a partially buried, stepped pyramid. Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano immediately linked the design to many previously uncovered Syrneth temples and with the aid of Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano's diggers you were able to raise a stone slab and gain access to the temple.

As you moved deeper and deeper into the temple it became apparent that not all of the damage was the result of time, when you uncovered partially buried and crushed armoured suits you realise a battle was fought here thousands of years ago. Further investigation revealed that the conflict seemed to be between a group of large armoured creatures and a group of smaller things that appeared to be humanoid, clockwork machines rather than people; it was impossible to say which side won however.

As the heroes progressed further into the temple a digger was lost when he was bitten by an extremely poisonous beetle. Eventually reaching the lower levels your group bypassed a series of “Light And Searing Energy Rays” and found another Clockwork Automaton, this one however was still active. Through quick thinking and the application of brute force you were able to seal the automaton back away within the temple before it could escape.

With repairs done the two ships continued on their voyage to the Midnight Archipelago and made good progress for the next few weeks, unfortunately it was not to be and one morning you found yourselves being pursued by another ship, it quickly became apparent that it was l'Requin aboard the Barracuda, after you once again. With no chance of outrunning his unnaturally fast vessel a gruelling battle ensued but he was once again bested by the combined efforts of the heroes – culminating with Reinette Varonne shooting him at point blank range with a small cannon.

The Island of No Egg

Once more l'Requin had caused serious damage and your ships had been driven severely off course. You were some weeks from the nearest land and the Captain was uncertain that supplies would last. Strangely both Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins and Reinette Varonne had dreams directing them to the north. With no better course of action obvious you headed that way, away from the known trade roots - fortune smiled upon you however as you encountered a sizeable island where you were able to drop anchor. The hunting was plentiful and the climate was comfortable enough for you to set up a camp while repairs were made and your supplies were restocked.

As you explored the islands you encountered numerous carved stone heads, each bore a rune (somewhat reminiscent of the one on Fornuft's Pebble) and each seemed to be surrounded by an enchantment which threatened to cause you harm. Eventually you came across a cave and exploring it you discovered an area guarded by ghostly warriors that Reinette Varonne was able to perceive with her monocle. Managing to evade them you entered a large cavern containing a stone egg.

Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins decided to examine the egg and in so doing he caused it to crack open, a long coiled up snake burst free and a strange emblem was burnt into Matthew's hand (though it quickly faded). At the same time a woman who was clearly of the Vestenmannavnjar burst into the chamber, she hurled an axe at the serpent but it dodged and quickly fled by burrowing through the wall.

The woman was enraged at your actions but what little you could understand of her words were confusing and contradictory. She made it clear she wanted you out of the cave and you kept to the cove for the remainder of your stay on the island.

After the repairs were completed you once again resumed your journey and this time your journey really was uneventful. You passed a few other islands in the Midnight Archipelago before arriving at Marcina and the city of Puerto Grande.

Mongrel Wildlife and Humanitarian Aid

On Marcina the heroes had a few more adventures. Reinette Varonne was able to pass on fabric from her father to a local tailor and helped get an initial trade link set up. In the course of her duties to Don Alejandro Soldano she also discovered some local creatures called Quimaera and took the opportunity to adopt one for herself. Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano and Reinette Varonne dealt with another attack on Don Alejandro Soldano and while travelling the island the group uncovered a series of attacks on native Erego villages. Investigations led them to a hostile tribe to the north; the Urub had always been aggressive but were too disorganised and primitive to pose any real threat, now however it seemed that someone had provided them with a shipment of firearms and some rudimentary training in their use.

With the help of a local renegade shaman the heroes were able to find the Urub encampment and destroy the weapons which had been supplied by the “red ones”.

After dealing with affairs on Marcina your group set sail in your ship – now named Y Mochyn Du and flying an Avalon flag. Good progress was made towards Cerrigdu which was only a few days away but a high pitched noise and a bright light rendered you unconscious.

The Blinding Light of Theus

You awoke to find yourselves hundreds of years in the future and inhabiting the bodies of your descendants. Here you met a man who called himself Konstantine and explained that the natural course of events had been tampered with leading to this desolate future which should not have happened.

During your stay in the future you discovered that Sir Bors McAllister had somehow become immortal and proclaimed himself the eternal King of Avalon, both Avalon and Montaigne had suffered catastrophic damage as a result of flooding and most of Theah was united in a war against an undead sorcerer and his army of blood sucking ghouls. Oddly enough you once again encountered l'Requin in this future timeline, though this time he served as an ally.

The Shadow? The Shadow?! The Shadow!

You returned to the present just in time to arrive at Cerrigdu where you found the settlements and mines oddly abandoned. Eventually stumbling across a group of survivors you were told that their mining had uncovered a vast underground cavern and that creatures within had slaughtered most of the colonists. As night was falling your group remained with the survivors and helped fend off an attack by vicious spider like creatures that were formed out of shadow.

With Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano's aid you raided the stores of an Explorers' Society Chapter House and equipped yourselves before venturing into the mines. There you encountered the governor of Cerrigdu, Sir Owaine, who seemed to be in possession of some new form of sorcery, he was able to trick Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins into a private conversation before summoning forth a blade of shadowy energy and severely wounding him. Together however the heroes drove Sir Owaine back to the brink of some sort of portal before Reinette Varonne finished him off with a dictionary to the face and Ramiro used explosives from the Explorers' Society to destroy the gateway.

Bloody Murder

After getting things more or less back to normal in Cerrigdu you headed further south to Kanuba where you discovered that Kean McMannon's friend on the island, Karlos Welken, had been killed. Investigating you discovered there had been deaths going back over the past month – natives as well as settlers in both the Avalon and Eisen colonies. Your investigations led you to realise sorcerers were being targeted and though you initially suspected Inquisitor Cheryl Martinez and Brother Markus Keule who had arrived at the island before you, it quickly became apparent that someone else was at work here and you reluctantly worked together

You discovered some kind of Ussuran shape shifter who was extracting the blood of sorcerers for unknown reasons. Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins destroyed the scientific apparatus and you handed the Ussuran over to the Inquisition but not before you discovered she bore the same 'gear' tattoo as Wolfgang von Drachen and his allies. A few days later you heard word that the Inquisition's prisoner had died aboard their ship.

A Hunting We Will Go

Knowing that you had travelled to the Midnight Archipelago, Jean Luc Pierre had sent Reinette Varonne an invitation to visit him on L'Il Du Bete where he was attending the reopening. After managing to negotiate your way past the rather obtuse “Squadron Vice Admiral Minot, Captain of the Resplendissant de Poisson and Commanding Officer of the Rear Squadron” you were transported to the island and welcomed into the lodges.

A few days passed in relative civilisation and comfort. You enjoyed a number of hunting trips and Jean Luc Pierre proved his competence on several occasions. An overconfident hunter needed to be rescued from a monstrous spider creature and Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano made the acquaintance of a rather well to do young lady who turned out to be the Countess Fleur Laurent.

Shortly before the end of your stay the invisible barriers on L'Il Du Bete were tampered with. Beasts were released across the island and several of the nobility were trapped within the lodge. The heroes travelled through the dangers of the jungle and reached a control room where they were able to return the barriers to their normal set up.

Returning to the lodge the heroes entered cautiously, they were able to deal with a handful of thugs and confronted Baron Gerard Valroux, a guest turned hostage taker. It seemed he was interrogating Fleur Laurent about her collection of firearms but Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano was easily able to best him in a dual to the death. When Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins inspected his corpse it appeared he had been infected by the same Numan Throwing Dart that Valentino had used to control Abrianna Lucilla Fiorenza.

Down Time

Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins was contacted by another Avalon vessel, and informed that they are to work together to locate the Fountain of Youth as a way to save Queen Elaine.

Given their trip to the future the group doubted the true intentions of Sir Bors McAllister and though they agreed to decipher the clues to the fountain's location they decided that they would seize the water and take it to the Queen themselves.

Several landmarks were hinted at and the heroes were able to identify several they have already found and by plotting them onto a map they discovered only two more locations were needed.

It was agreed that Captain Gethin would seek out the island of the immortal sorcerer while the heroes found the secret home of the pirates.

Yo, Ho, Ahoy and Avast; Being a Pirate is really Badass!

And so you joined the crew of La Perle Noir under Captain Jacques Moineau. After a few days of sea and a successful attack on a merchant ship you headed to the southern end of the Midnight Archipelago and arrived at a dangerous and difficult to reach series of islands called the 'Straights of Blood'.

Knowing the location of the islands was enough but the heroes took the time to stop in a few taverns, enjoy some drinks and purchase a clearly authentic treasure map from an entirely trustworthy pirate barkeep. When they were finished they set about commandeering another pirate ship and escaping back to the main body of the Midnight Archipelago.

The Fountain of Youth

Captain Gethin and Michel Du Pont appeared through a porte gateway. They had discovered the location of the “Island of the Immortal Sorcerer” but the natives had unexpectedly turned hostile. They escaped but their ship and crew was lost. With all of the required locations now mapped the heroes were able to pin point the location of the Fountain of Youth and set sail to discover a small island with high cliffs.

The heroes, along with Captain Gethin and Michel Du Pont climbed the cliffs and were confused to find rolling hills and meadows that expanded far further than the size of the island should have allowed. As they explored the landscape seemed to be uncannily like Avalon and they eventually met a shepherd who spoke perfect Avalon and directed them to the manor of his ladyship.

Upon arriving at the manor it became obvious that the heroes were no longer in the mortal world and had some how travelled to Bryn Bresail, there were many guests at the manor awaiting an imminent ball but each one was a Sidhe lord or lady – including l'Requin who was identified as the Lord of the Breaking Waves.

At the ball itself the heroes were introduced to the Lady of the manor and the “Guardian of the Eternal Spring” who turned out to be none other than Allianna. Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins's Sidhe ally who had aided them back in the Schwarzwald. When Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins explained his reasons for being there she announced that he was bound by Sidhe law and could not leave Bryn Bresail until he had travelled to Drws Ysbryd and claimed a leaf from the silver birch.

Drws Ysbryd

After speaking with the Sidhe guests and acquiring gifts and favours from a few, Reinette Varonne bargained with l'Requin for passage to Drws Ysbryd.

They voyage was somewhat timeless, there was no cycle of day and night and no calendar to mark but the heroes best guess placed it at a few weeks. Reinette Varonne however witnessed none of it, she entered l'Requin's cabin and left again at the end of the journey with no recollection of what had happened within.

The island itself was foreboding with a thick forest of dead and dying trees. As the heroes pressed on through the woods they were drawn by the sounds of screams to an Avalon manor which had been set ablaze.

As the heroes ran to help Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins quickly realised that it was not just any manor house, it was the home of his parents and this was the night of their death at the hands of the Inquisition. The heroes did what they could but they were unable to change the destined course of events, Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins did however discover that his mother's killer was none other than a younger Brother Markus Keule.

Before they could do anything else the heroes found themselves back in the forest and approaching a graveyard. As they drew closer they realised a funeral was underway and that a young teenage Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano was in attendance. The spirit of Ramiro's father materialised, speaking of his disappointment in Ramiro's choices and emphasising the shame he had brought upon the family before drawing his swords to attack. Though an unpleasant and difficult duel Ramiro eventually managed to best his father's spirit.

As Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano sheathed his blades Reinette Varonne became aware of mists coalescing which she could see through her monocle. In moments corpses seemed to be digging themselves out of their graves. When they realised what was happening the heroes wisely decided the best course of action was to make a tactical withdrawal.

Finally reaching the centre of the island the heroes discovered the silver birch but Kean McMannon suddenly attacked Ramiro Pancayk de Soldano, apparently seeing him as some kind of monster until the rest of the group were able to restrain him and he came to his senses.

Plucking a single leaf from the tree the heroes made their return to Allianna and were taken to the fountain where Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins was permitted to fill a vial from one of several pools. Deciphering one last clue from those he was given by Bors McAllister he made the correct choice and the heroes were congratulated.

When Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins and the heroes refused to hand over the water Captain Gethin revealed he was a powerful glamour mage and attacked the group. Between them the heroes were able to best him but not before Michel Du Pont got hold of the vial and escaped by recklessly using porte. Unleashing porte within Bryn Bresail was gravely insulting to the Sidhe and they agreed to render aide to the heroes. They were given a specific course to follow by l'Requin and though it made little logical sense they soon found themselves off the coast of Avalon.

Lets do the Time Warp Again

Renaming their ship the 'Pink Panther' the heroes returned to Avalon and quickly discovered that they had somehow travelled back in time and arrived on Avalon while across the ocean they were still on L'Il Du Bete.

The local news was concerning, there were reports of growing terrorist activity and restrictive curfews being enforced. Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins's mail was also a worry, an encoded letter from the Invisible College expressed concerns about Sir Bors McAllister and put the heroes on the trail of John Harrison.

Though both his shop and house were closed with notices indicating he was wanted by the authorities the heroes were able to arrange a meeting with John Harrison at the secret laboratory of Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins's father.

It turned out that the Invisible College suspect Sir Bors McAllister of stealing and weaponising their research and some rumours even spoke of him dabbling in blood alchemy. People had begun disappearing off the streets, including numerous members of the Invisible College and it seemed they were being held and experimented upon at the Tower of Luthon.

The Tower of Luthon

The most recent architect to work upon the Tower was a member of the Invisible College and so the heroes were able to acquire a set of blueprints with which to plan their rescue mission. The heroes infiltrated the tower as part of a supply delivery and using fake uniforms they were able to move around relatively freely.

Easily dealing with the guards they encountered the heroes discovered several prisoners who had been experimented upon, infused with sorcerous blood and then forced to fight in order to tap into their new powers. Keeping them safe the heroes explored the rest of the tower, finding research notes and overhearing Sir Lynwood with a jenny in his room.

At the top of the tallest tower the heroes discovered a horrific looking creature trapped within a cage which Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins identified as being made from cold iron. Though he advised leaving it, Reinette Varonne decided to help the monster and released it. Vanishing the heroes heard horrified screams throughout the tower and as they moved back through it's halls they discovered that Sir Lynwood and every guard in the tower had been brutally killed.

A final room was checked and turned out to contain extensive notes on the experiments being carried out and apparatus that was remarkably similar to that which you had found on Kanuba. Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins made short work of the equipment and the heroes escaped with the prisoners to a nearby safehouse.

The Final Showdown

The heroes were approached by Allianna who explained that Sir Bors McAllister had coerced the goblin creature (which she called a Red Cap) they had saved into sharing the secret of summoning Queen Maab. It seemed he was going to try and kill the Queen of the Sea. The only time this would be possible would be at the New Moon and so the heroes once again faced a race against the clock to deal with Bors McAllister.

With the date of [Michel_Du_Pont]'s arrival growing closer the heroes began to take more direct action. Sir Geriant agreed to a secret meeting and though he didn't fully understand how they were in the Midnight Archipelago and Avalon at the same time he was able to provide them with [Michel_Du_Pont]'s address and the heroes were able to deal with him as soon as he arrived in Avalon.

When presented with their concerns about Sir Bors McAllister, Sir Geriant was sceptical but he provided them with the date of a banquet and political gathering which Sir Bors McAllister would be attending - given his unusual movements this banquet would be the ideal time and place to confront him. He also provided the heroes with links to several other High Knights who they were able to speak with.

At the same time the heroes sent letters to several of the allies they had made over their travels, seeking help and support from wherever they could.

When the actual banquet arrived the heroes revealed themselves to Sir Bors McAllister, and though he tried to rally support against them, the most influential High Knights were on the side of the heroes. Instead Sir Bors McAllister fled, leaving countless Eisen mercenaries to prevent the heroes from following him.

In the banquet hall three members of the orchestra revealed themselves to be Armande Le Pancaque, Isaac and Henri ; skilled musketeers from Montaigne. They were joined by a fourth musketeer, Reinette Varonne's brother Phillipe Varonne who had taken the swordname Gascon, and between them they dealt with the guards while the heroes continues on their way.

In the main entry hall of Glenayre the heroes were confronted by a group of Knights, all loyal to Sir Bors McAllister. Though they blocked the way they did not expect the entrance of El Vago via a stained glass window above. He was able to hold off all four knights with his dual rapiers while the heroes proceeded through Carleon to the docks.

Here they came across a few more of Bors McAllister' knights and saw the regent himself engaged in a sword fight with l'Requin. As the heroes dealt with the knights they saw l'Requin bested, disarmed and stabbed through the knee with the cold iron rapier, Arfod.

The dread pirate drew a pistol, dispatching the knight engaged against Reinette Varonne before telling her to remember that she was the Pirate Queen. As l'Requin fell into the water Reinette Varonne moved to engage Sir Bors McAllister and it quickly became apparent that she knew exactly how to counter his fighting style, it seemed that the weeks she had spent in l'Requin's cabin had been preparing her for this fight.

Meanwhile Brother Markus Keule turned up, in Avalon as part of Cardinal Christina Moreno's retinue; his Defenders of the Faith reinforced Sir Bors McAllister' knights while he engaged Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins directly.

Eventually the heroes were victorious, Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins defeated Brother Markus Keule who was killed in the fight and after defeating Sir Bors McAllister, Reinette Varonne ended his life with l'Requin's blade rather than giving him an opportunity to wriggle out of it.

Closing Credits

Arriving back at Glenayre it had been discovered that Queen Elaine was not ill or cursed but had in fact died from her injuries during the assassin's attack. It seemed Sir Bors McAllister knew but was hiding the truth in an attempt to hold the country together.

Cardinal Christina Moreno made her apologies for Brother Markus Keule' actions, though he obviously thought he was helping the rightful regent of the country he had acted without the Inquisition's authorisation and such political interference was something she hoped to avoid in the future.

The High Knights realised they needed a leader and Sir Geriant was quickly elected as the first Prime Minister of Avalon. Given deaths, resignations and disappearances from the High Knights several important individuals were promoted to join their ranks; most notably “King” Piram and the newly promoted Baron Matthew "Walsingham" Hopkins.

As well as Matthew's promotion his allies were all granted membership in the “Most Distinguished Order of St George” making them honorary nobility within Avalon as well as promises of friendship from Prime Minister Geriant.

After a few more days of hospitality each of the heroes gradually made their goodbyes and returned to their homes.
