Elfborn
Magnapur divides its language into High Magnapuri, spoken by the masters (i.e. High Elves) and Low Magnapuri, for the slaves. However, Low Magnapuri consists of several different languages, or at least dialects:
- "Low Magnapuri" as it is referred in the capital has strayed closer to High Magnapuri in much of the heartland of the Empire (Magnapur, Pundrapur, Manviribad, Bostapur, Salcicum, Dastipur and partially Biltur).
- Vasti is spoken in the Roundwards side of the Empire (Hansviricum, Jibar, Vasteribad, Vastur, Termibad), having significant influences from the Forked tongue, though Jibari is more commonly spoken in Apjibar, primarily passed down from a long dead Wood Elf tribe.
- Tondran is spoken Darkwards of the capital (Tondrai, Golviripur, Schvataur), having influences from the Wood Elf languages of Toldrahai, as well as some Forked Tongue.
- Lightwards, the largely Wood Elf languages of Baritani (Destrapraj, Dostipur and partially Biltur) and Jisvic (Jisvic Hierarchy) dominate, despite being barely related to "true" Low Magnapuri.
- In the Counteroundwards regions we find Balsifiri (Sidrha, Vasmericum), Gastan (Gastapur, Balisibad), and the pidgin of the two, Dagbah (Dagbahai).
Thus the Magnapuri languages are High Magnapuri, Low Magnapuri, Vasti, Jibari, Tondran, Baritani, Jisvic, Balsifiri, Gastan and Dagbah.
Lizardfolk
Most lizardfolk of Genida speak the Forked Tongue (ānide) though in the Roundwards side of the state ādīsi (literally new tongue) is gaining in prevalence, especially among the Chameleon population.
In Game
Rules wise, treat "Common" as the most likely local dialect of Low Magnapuri (probably Low Magnapuri). High Elves, Dark Elves and Half Elves born of them know High Magnapuri, for other racial languages pick an appropriate language from the list in its place. Lizardfolk speak the Forked Tongue or New Tongue.
