Pundrapur is the second largest city of the Magnapuri Empire, founded by Magnus the Magnificent in 96 YM. It was originally built with the great marble architecture of Magnapur, but this struggled to survived the common cyclones and flooding of the counter-roundwards coast of the Empire, so it had to be rebuilt at least three times, leading to a significantly squatter, more durable and less aesthetic style.

In the time of the later Empire, Pundrapur is traditionally ruled by a non-inheritable Raja, usually a close relative of the Magnus. As such it is not uncommon for the ruler to spend very little time in Pundrapur itself, and much more time instead in the capital. At the start of 1011 YM, Lord Lust held the position, but following his disgrace Sanja Fairmaiden took it over.

In 1191, Pundrapur is the capital of the Pundran Magnacy, and seat of Magnus the Flaccid.
