Following the Burning of the Book of Names, Lord Lust was relieved of his post as Raja of Pundrapur, with the title instead being granted to Sanja Fairmaiden, Magna the Unfortunate and Lord Lust's half sister, and bastard daughter of Magnus the Quiet. Sanja was considered an unusual choice for the post, holding only the minor title of Thakurani of Istenpore (a poor town Darkwards and slightly Roundwards in the shadow of Magnapur). However, Sanja was known in court as being close to her niece, Magna the Scholar, acting as a confidant and friend; the two women were barely two years apart in age despite being aunt and niece. Though still widely read, Sanja was not known as being as involved in the scholarly pursuits as the Magna, developing a reputation as a rare beauty and hence the name "Fairmaiden". Sanja was also known to dislike and distrust Lord Lust, who she described as a "befouling and disquieting wraith" - this seemed to initially spark from resentment between their mothers, but grew as time passed due to Lust's less than pleasant activities. Following Lust's fall from grace, the Fairmaiden was swiftly granted the Rajdom of Pundrapur - partly in fear of the growing revolution, and partly to spite the former Raja.
As Rani, Fairmaiden never set foot in Pundrapur. A lifelong courtier, she stayed in Magnapur as the revolution took off in earnest, remaining at the side of the Magna. This distance, as well as the ongoing chaos, allowed Pundrapur to be usurped a scarce few months after the Rani's appointment. Menveg, Lust's bastard son and commonly referred to as "the Bloody Bastard", levied a thousand men, and hired the same again in mercenaries to take the city of Pundrapur before the arrival of any troops from either Istenpore or the capital. The few soldiers in the city were swiftly either overwhelmed or swapped sides to join the attackers and sack the city.
It is incredibly unlikely this attack was performed on the orders of Lord Lust - for all his faults, the disgraced former Raja was loyal and devoted to his niece the Magna. Despite this, the Bloody Bastard claimed the Rajdom on behalf of Lord Lust, with himself the "erstwhile heir" left in command. Though just as cruel and unfeeling, Menveg was not a sadist like Lust, enjoying violence in the act but not relishing in the carnal pleasure of it. This did not stop him sacking the city and surrounding land, massacring those "crying the false cries of unruly slaves… that the Raja had been stripped of his rightful domain".
The Bloody Bastard proceeded to expand his control along the Counterroundwards coast of Cunabulum, from Halapur to Vetlan.
Despite the title of Raja of Pundrapur not traditionally being inheritable, Menveg announced that the Rajdom would be split between two heirs - Raja Sudhra “the Shining” who would reign in the Darkwards side (from Halapur to Malicum officially, though the island of Malicum was lost to the Vakh Isles - more practically this was from Halapur to Kanaur, renamed "Sudhrapur" in a fit of vanity), and Raja Wroth the Lightwards (from Vagaur to Vetlan). Sudhra’s realm would later further divide into multiple successor states (Sudhrai Magnacy, Sudhrai Rajdom, Thakurate of Halapur), but Raja Wroth largely kept his lands - losing a little to the inheritance of Vagaur, but gaining land close to the ruins of Magnapur. Unfortunately, he died young, to an infected wound from his wars with the Men of Metal, leaving only one heir - the young Raja usually referred to as “Sandic”.
With the Empire truly collapsed by this point, and possessing the lands around the ruins of Magnapur as well as the correct bloodline, Sandic had himself coronated not as Raja, but as Magnus. Often referred to as the Magnus in Pundrapur (to differentiated from all the other Magnus claimants) or, more derogatively, Magnus the Flaccid, he has waged war with his line’s old enemies - the Fairmaidens (namely the Weeping Rani), ruling from the Ikand Rajdom - over control of the ruins of Magnapur. A poor leader, the Magnus has found himself largely on the losing end of these wars, losing much land and leading to Vetlan declaring itself an independent merchant republic.
