Nyx was bred into slavery and has never had a taste of freedom. She tries her best to get through life as painlessly as possible by trying to better herself to be useful to whoever owns her, and fortunately now, she's skilled enough with her abilities to be worth a decent price. Nyx is quite intelligent and experienced when it comes to the needs of other people, and fiercely loyal to betters who care for her well. She is literate and can speak a few different languages.
Nyx has soft brown hair and olive green eyes, with soft, healthy skin that would seem to imply she's never been used for hard labor, though she's not without a few scars.
Nyx's default demeanor is cordial and a bit distant, unless it suits her to be otherwise. She generally likes her personal space to herself unless it's on her own terms, when applicable anyways.
Likes: Pets, cuddles, shinies, being the center of attention, playing with her prey
Dislikes: Swimming, dogs, uninvited affection, picky eater, being left out
Languages: Aeguptian is the only language she speaks without her magic. With it, she also speaks Ascelic, Caenish, Treskan, Dsôn.
Strengths: Nyx is a decent liar but not always perfect if she's under pressure. Her fierce loyalty gives her a sense of determination and strong will.
Weaknesses: Nyx is terrified of the water and doesn't know how to swim. She tolerates baths but otherwise won't go near it. She also doesn't have much of a sense of self worth beyond what she can do for her master.
Physical Capabilities: Nyx is flexible and sneaky. She's a very good jumper and climber. She has sharp fingernails and slightly longer, sharper canine teeth. Her big ears give her a very good sense of hearing.
Nyx is a Iestrium Mage (Yellow Magic) with the following abilities. It's a small one and she's mastered it about as much as possible; it won't do anything new.
Empathy.
She can sense the emotions of others around her. The closer they are, or the stronger the feeling, the more she can feel them. She can generally only feel it with her eyes closed, but strong feelings might come through passively. A person skilled in focusing their mind and controlling their own emotions could concentrate and make themselves harder to read.
Alter Emotion.
She can't truly control your mind or influence your reactions, but if she has successfully sensed your emotions, she can pick one and alter it, increasing or decreasing its intensity by about 20%, whatever that means. The effect only persists as long as she is concentrating on you. Her eyes must be closed to use this ability.
Language Absorption.
After hearing a language for a few hours, Nyx becomes literate in that language. If she parts with her crystal, she loses the language and has to acquire it again. She has a heavy accent at first, but it fades to perfectly native over a few weeks.
