Location: Mantol-Derith
in the storage room of the duergar warehouse, Yantha Coaxrock is being interrogated for stealing the gem
- Skjorn speaks up first, startling the duergar and setting them on edge
- Skjorn says some things which make them question if he's been sent as a bribe, and they say they're not interested in prostitutes
Party tells the duergar that they've heard about the stolen gem and want to help find it
- when asked why, they say they want to prevent a war
the duergar introduce themselves as Ghuldur Flagonfist, the duergar faction leader, and Krimgol Muzgardt, the man whose gem was stolen
- Party is allowed to speak to Yantha, who claims the drow charmed her and stole the gem
- she notices Sarith among the group of people and accuses him directly
- Party is annoyed by this, because it's obviously untrue
Dibrael gets permission to cast Zone of Truth, which prevents anyone in range from telling deliberate lies
- Dibrael interrogates Yantha again, with input from other party members
- Yantha appears to be genuinely confused, and this time accuses Krimgol of stealing the gem from her
- Party questions Krimgol, who is also under Zone of Truth, and he claims to have found the gem while mining and that he needs it to buy back the goodwill of his clan
Zaz suggests that Yantha may have madness and that they should cure her
- Dibrael gets permission to climb on top of the xorn's cage and tries to touch Yantha; he falls in, but the monster is uninterested in him
- Dibrael tries again, this time succeeding in slapping Yantha's foot as he climbs back over the other side
Yantha immediately feels better and confesses the truth: after handling the gem, she felt compelled to lie and tried to buy it for less than it was worth
- while arguing with Krimgol, her apprentice Peebles took the gem off the counter and left
- she offers to Send to him, but she needs her hands free first; Party persuades Ghuldur to lower her
- Mylz gives Yantha a copper wire from her own component pouch, and Yantha's somatics involve a gay little dance that annoys the duergar
- Dibrael suggests giving the monster, now realized to be a pet named Gunther, a snack for being so patient
Yantha announces that Peebles is "trapped" in the drow enclave, and that he requires rescuing; he also no longer has the gem
- Party wonders if Peebles could be lying like Yantha, but Ghuldur suspects the madness is different for everyone; after all, Krimgol is actually in good standing with his family
- Dibrael cures Krimgol's madness
- Dibrael cures Krimgol's madness
- Zaz asks if Ghuldur and Krimgol still want the gem, and they say no
Yantha apologizes to both Krimgol and Sarith, stating that her behavior under the gem's influence was out of character
- Sarith is surprised but accepts the apology
