Party stealthily observes the gargoyles, who are perched on ledges overlooking the grove
- it isn't clear which/if any of the gargoyles have the gem
- Party debates between attacking the gargoyles or trying to speak to them, and how to deal with the guards at the warehouse when they do
Party decides to approach the warehouse openly and are immediately warned to leave by the female drow guards
- Dibrael, Gaziel, and Mylz convince the guards that there is a madness spreading in Mantol-Derith, and they believe the source is nearby
- the guards dismiss Party, saying that they will handle the threat on their own since it is their territory
- Party becomes more insistent, and each side gets more agitated
- one of the guards addresses Jorlan, Sarith, and Shoor, asking which one of them is in charge
- Shoor steps forward with fake confidence, addressing the guard informally
- the guard snaps at Shoor for not respecting her superiority over him, and he shrinks in on himself
- Dibrael gets pissed and loudly defends Shoor, to the latter's shock
- Shoor is finally starting to realize he might actually have friends; Dibrael will now die for him.

the guards respond by attacking, of course
- a lot of nat 20s happen
- Skjorn turns one gargoyle into a chicken and finally gets to cast Fireball on 3 others; NOICE.
Party checks all the bodies and Gaziel flies up to the ledges to look for the gem
- Shoor loots the drow woman who insulted him, taking her money and shortswords
- Zilchyn hesitantly approaches after watching from a safe distance, then loots from the other drow woman
- Party dumps the bodies in the nearby river to hide the evidence
there is no sign of the gem, and Party starts to panic slightly with the dead end
- Dibrael gets really frustrated and can't stop pacing
- Skjorn insists that the gem must have been eaten (it definitely was not)
- Zilchyn suggests that they might find more leads inside the drow warehouse; surely someone's seen it
