Mhasrin

the Autarch

Mho-as Rin of House Osada is the matriarch of her House and the supreme ruler over what is the modern Nebayan empire. She has also been quasi-deified by many of the Koyan people, who often depict her as many-limbed.

Pre-Moonbreak

Mhasrin is perhaps one of the only humans left who predates Moonbreak. Before the calamity she was the daughter of a dancer and the previous head of House Osada. While she participated in political events, she did not seem to have the zeal for it, unlike her youngest daughter, and many wonder if she would have pursued politics at all if history had not taken such a drastic turn and wiped out most of her House.

The Isolated Era

Moonbreak cut Koyo Isu off from the rest of the sector but introduced them to their new neighbors, the Spirans. The details of what happened during this period of no contact with the rest of the sector are very limited. Like many other worlds, Koyo Isu struggled with death, disease, and famine. Mhasrin, with the help of her Kadiri, helped regain stability. The old empire's rule was quickly overthrown and replaced with Mhasrin's sole rule. Under her new sovereignty, she abolished almost all forms of bondage and massively restructured most economic, social, political, and military institutions.

During this time, she also managed to ally herself with her new Spiran neighbors despite the fact that her new heavily socialist tendencies diverged strongly from the Spire's rampant consumerist culture. Together, the Koyans and Spirans developed the Climbers, a biological ship with J6 drives.

Reintroduction and the J6 Rule

Many of the old navigational charts had been lost during the calamity, and with Koyo Isu's silence, many assumed the world and its House had been lost like many others. Eventually, a ship happened to jump into KI's space. This led to the re-awareness of Koyo Isu (it is debated how much the Autarch knew of what was happening outside her system before this time since she had her Climbers, and it is likely she had hoped to stay undetected by anyone who might try to pull her back into the ways of the old Imperial rule).

Initial encounters were tense, but quickly became decisive. Mhasrin allied herself with the Iuz to help fight off ReCo advancing on Old Nebayan worlds.

When the initial calamity struck and KI lost contact with the rest of Nebay, Mhasrin filed claims at Koyan imperial embassies for any titles she may have gained from people dying in tragedies. People quickly realized that while House Osada had a reputation for being sort of folksy and backwoodsy before the apocalypse, Mhasrin's mother's lineage especially had given Mhasrin the pedigree to grab a lot of power in the old empire. On one hand, the old empire had collapsed into a morass of loose worlds being picked at by the rimward ReCo and the coreward Jandelings. On the other hand, Mhasrin had the most advanced jump drives in the sector and declared that a J6 reach in any direction from Koyo Isu was under her jurisdiction as the Autarchy of Nebay.

New Nebay

Since her proclamation, the Autarch has dedicated her time securing her borders from ReCo invaders, Jandeling second-sons, and Aamidali factionalists. Her current borders contain many worlds that were never part of the Old Nebayan Empire and do not contain many that were. It is understood that the Autarch's long term goals include eventually gaining all of the worlds that once encompassed her old empire, and likely exporting the policies of Koyo Isu onto the rest of the Autarchy.
