Phodai

Phodai (D552300-5)

A minor backwater on an outer edge of the Ghostwall, remembered only by those seeking solitude from Three Sisters civilization at large, and the crews of J2 ships, hoping to shave a few weeks off the Teraat/Abarra route.

World size: 5000km
Atmosphere: Thin, taxing in heavy activity without respirator
Hydrographics: 20%, mostly concentrated in the ice caps, and a pair of large lakes.

Population: Rougly 2,000
Government Type: No formal government structure, disputes are handled by the community and in some cases, adjudicated by the Daati priesthood.
Tech Level: Roughly 5, basic radio is the main form of communication, imported solar infrastructure provides power.
Starport Class: D. Poor quality installation. Only unrefined fuel is available. No repair or shipyard facilities present. Infrastructure limited to a clear marked, fenced off landing area and staff and equipment to manually load and unload cargos and pump unrefined fuel directly from water tanks. No planetary defenses.

Major settlements:

Daati Temple complex
-Isolationist sect of pacifist Daati worshipping their god from a temple built to observe Phodai's magnificent northern lights.
-A small, anarchic settlement has formed between the temple and it's small landing pad, of mostly Kotelgan and Vereshi refugees and others seeking refuge from war.
-A large hydroponics garden operated by the temple sustains the settlment's two thousand settlers, supplemented by occassional trade from passing ships.
League Observatory
-Led by Kihor Guha, Engineer, crewed by a small team of scouts in a support role for visiting League ships.
-Observatory manned and partially funded by Dr. Gasend Proper and his daughter Adrianne, with a long-term aim of studying the nearby Ghostwall nebula and analyzing it's interaction with jump ships.

Prophet of Lights incident:

A prophet of the so-called God of Lights has begun recruiting from the settlment, speaking ill of the Outsiders and their science, claiming that such interference will bring about another Wave. This prophet speaks ill of the current Seer, and in the past months, has grown increasingly militant in his rhetoric, leading to a sudden attack on the temple, and a seizure of the garden and the port. Armed with weapons sourced from the settlement and visiting tramp ships, they have exorted a number of ships for further supplies, including a number of air/rafts. Isharpal, one of the Prophet's fanatics, raised a small force and used these air/rafts to assault the scouts, hoping control of the base would allow the capture of visitng scout ships, and that the captured scientists would earn him the favor of his Prophet and God.
