Those Who Live in Stone are vaguely humanoid entities that reside within all manner of rock, stone, and earth, and move through them as others might move through air. While they seem to prefer denser rock, they have been found inhabiting mud, gravel, and even sand. Most of these entities, also known as stonecrawlers, are predatory creatures that lie in wait to attack those that pass by their hunting grounds, emerging from stone to grapple and pull their prey back in with them. They are capable of "bending" stone somewhat to their will during this process, allowing them to extend the earth towards their targets, but only to an extent. Those Who Live in Stone are not capable of moving independently of their homes, and must maintain a tether to their stone or crumble to dust.
