Vitterverns are a forest-dwelling predator species that are assumed to be mist-infused and are famed for their strange ability to access multiple determinations of their current state when not observed. In other words, if no sentient creature has line of sight on a vittervern, the creature can access what is estimated to be around 20 future determinations of their state, all of which culminate in its discovery by another creature. Vitterverns prefer to spend as much time in this quantum state as possible, and disdain being observed. They are efficient solitary hunters, but are limited somewhat by their slow movement and poor intelligence.
In forests where vitterverns are known to live, travelers are often recommended to travel in groups of at least 3, with their backs against each other's.
