Gezzid's Comet

Gezzid's Comet is a septannually-manifesting phenomenon marked by a massive, streaking comet that leaves a multicolored trail across the sky over the course of a day. About half a day after the comet passes, a sparkling dust known as Twillsand will fall from the sky, which has varying effects when inhaled by living creatures. In general, most who inhale the dust will become docile and relaxed, and will experience powerful hallucinations. Interestingly, the same hallucinations will be experienced by any under the effects of Twillsand in close proximity. These effects will last for about 6 hours, and further inhalation of twillsand will no longer produce any effects until the next arrival of the comet. Twillsand appears to spontaneously evaporate quickly after it falls, though it can be sealed and kept with proper care and equipment.

Different cultures have varying responses to Gezzid's Comet; many northern cultures have established festivals during this time, and will celebrate the occasion with grand feasts, while others may hide away, sealing themselves off from what they view as corruption.

Twillsand in known to have strange interactions with past iterations of itself. Researchers have found many uses for these interactions, from the creation of scrying pools to mistgaze tinctures. Very rarely, Twillsand may collect in underwater pools, which are known as Wildeyes.
