Brozhdar spent what felt like a lifetime as another grunt in the army. Years of headlong rushes into enemies had inflicted carnage on enemies as often as he saw it inflicted on men around him. Decades as an unquestioning soldier began to weigh on him as he failed to see the impact of the wars he participated in. One bled into the next and his former love of battle began to fade. Eventually he transferred out of combat and tried his hand at becoming a siege engineer for several years. That's a role that required someone with a much better sense of numbers than he and he resigned himself to retirement. Retirement from the life he knew felt empty and he longed to be back in a squadron where he might find camaraderie and something to live for, to live to protect. When an adventurer came looking for mercenaries he signed up and while that adventurer didn't survive much longer than that, Brozhdar thought he might finally be able to find something in sticking with this adventurer's guild.
