Buddo is free. No more chains. No more fighting in pits, alleys, and arenas. No more lashings or being scraped raw for his poison… As long as he is not caught.
His peaceful life in the Grung colony came to an end when goblin slavers sacked their home. Buddo, armed only with his fishing spear managed to kill a few goblins as they chased him. That drew the attention of their leader, Crazz’k. When Buddo was finally brought down, Crazz’k put him into a caged wagon with a few other creatures – an elderly elf, a pair of orc children, and an overweight human male. He came to know this company as family, and was forced to rely on them when Crazz’t entered them into the fighting pits.
The agile Grung swiftly brought down fighters many times his size. Precision attacks with his spear and strong legs gave him a signature style. At times of rest, the elf – Kaneth - taught him how to mediate channel his emotion into strength. The human – Graham – became his sparring partner. And the orc twins taught him the arts.
Buddo could not speak or write common, and he barely understood it. He found a saving grace in music and painting. His sticky fingers made most instruments difficult, but the drumming came naturally. He fired up the crowds between fights and confused his enemies with the rhythmic pounding. Painting became his only effective way of communicating big ideas, and his companions eventually picked up on the everyday croaks of simple requests.
After years of fighting, Buddo earned enough gold to buy his freedom, and Crazz’t accepted. His first act as a free Grung, was killing his captor and freeing his companions. Since the murder, Buddo has been on the run. The pitmasters and goblin legion did not take kindly to their best slavemaster being slain, and they pursued Buddo across the country.
He is now seeking asylum among the guild, hoping to lend his skills in exchange for protection.
