The Last Stop

Ramshackle Trading Post
The Last Stop marks the threshold into the dungeons beneath Thaymount Citadel, a chaotic trading post just beyond the supply tunnel's adamantine doors. Ramshackle tables, colorful patchwork tents, and cobbled-together shacks form a squalid settlement of scavenged junk—barrels, crates, warped timber—sprawling around the entrance. Off-key music drifts through the air, drowned by merchants' shouts, desperate haggling, and the low rumble of distant auctions.
Desperation defines the place. Everyone here craves something—surface goods, information, a way out—and eyes new arrivals like the supply wagons with predatory hope. Thayan agents, merchants, exiles, and dungeon denizens converge to claim wares, bid on thrall auctions, and trade whispers of the world above.
Market Stalls and Commerce
Stalls hawk dungeon-scavenged goods or surface imports: anything from the Player's Handbook under 1,000 gp, priced at ten times normal value due to scarcity. Corpses and living slaves fetch grim prices for Red Wizards' experiments, giant bodies displayed like premium stock.
Key characters include:
- Quan Dul: Necromancer awaiting giant corpse deliveries, fond of tiefling diviner Sharade Quilbax.
- Faraway Visions: Alchemical stimulants and intoxicants promising escape.
- Duggorond Stoneskin: Cheerful dwarf merchant with centuries in the depths, selling potions amid ruthless optimism.
- Lauzoril: Scarred ex-Red Wizard beggar, scarred from tattoo removal,
- Eurid Eight-Fingers: Chatty doppelganger carriage driver on undead giant centipede Nazrohi; guides through gang territories.
- Sharade Quilbax: Lavender-skinned tiefling diviner in peacock robes sees visions of "Red Wizard in Mealstorm" at Word of Recall.
Residents (except Red Wizards) can't leave Thaymount tunnels; No gang violence tolerated within Last Stop due to Red Wizards' oversight but further in the tunnels it's dangerous.
Cadaver Market
The cadaver market displays neatly crated stockpiles of intact dead bodies—including massive giants and smaller humanoids—ready for Red Wizard necromantic experiments. Crimson-robed buyers inspect transport crates with bidding paddles while zombie laborers unload fresh wagons from supply tunnels. Iron cages hold living thralls beside bloodstained auction blocks under flickering torchlight.
