Duke Zalto was one of the upstart Giant Lords vying for power during the War of the Ordning. With the Ordning shattered Zalto led his minions to reclaim Ironslag, the greatest forge of ancient Ostoria, planning to reconstruct the ancient colossus construct the Vonindod, a relic of the Thousand Years War. He wished to unleash it upon the Giants' hated foe, the dragons.
Realizing a flame stronger than Ironslag's was needed to awaken the Vonindod, he forged an alliance with the drow of House Xorlarrin in order to gain the fire primordial Maegara, in hopes of using it's power to complete the Vonindod.
Zalto dreamed to lead his kind at war in the glory of Surtr and Annam, and would sacrifice his family to achieve said goals.
The Blue Wyrm Brigade entered Ironslag to stop the operations going on there. Zalto would never achieve his dreams as he was slain by Levina, who tore out his throat with a claw.
