An Aunt's Plight

Completed
Sidequest Completed

After dispatching scouts to check on the other settlements of Ten-Towns, Duvessa Shane told Levina that she has an aunt (her father’s sister) living in Waterdeep who is the captain of a ship called The DancingWave. Duvessa writes a letter to her aunt, Inirva Coldwaterr, asking her to provide passage and accommodations to Levina if she needed to travel up or down the Sword Coast.

While in Waterdeep Levina sought out information about the Dancing Wave, and learned that the ship was missing and several weeks overdue. It was transporting goods from Luskan to Waterdeep when it disappeared. Rumor had it that Neverwinter privateers aboard a ship called the Moon Maiden sighted floating debris while traveling south to Waterdeep. Levina found Osk Thunderhale, the captain of the Moon Maiden, taking it easy at the Hanging Lantern, a festhall near Waterdeep’s docks. Levina confronted him, but did not attack him when he tried to pick a fight. He bought Levina a drink, then claimed to be under the employ of Lord Dagult Neverember of Neverwinter.

He had no proof that the debris he saw came from the Dancing Wave, but he was aware of no other Waterdhavian merchant ships that had gone missing of late. Furthermore, he claimed to have seen “a ship as big as a mountain” prowling the northern waters and thinks it might have attacked and destroyed the Dancing Wave.
