Once renowned as a beacon of art, ingenuity and piety, the Fracturing hit Kayithran harder than most. Bereft of the Gods once so vital to them, the vacuum of power caused by their absence was the perfect opportunity for theocracy to become totalitarianism and for many long years after the Shattering the Kaytherans labored under a near dystopian regime. Even after the founding of The Hub travel in and out of the realm was strictly controlled by the government, leaving the majority of the outside world unaware of the conditions within. Isolated and afraid of the world beyond without their divine protectors, the new rulers turned towards rapid industrialization, aided by their pioneering advances in the field of Magitech. While successful for a time, their growth came at the cost of their own people as extreme inequality and famine for those not part of the realm's elite blanketed the land.
In the chaos that followed the disappearance of The Lord and Lady from the Hub, communications with Kayithran were lost and for years not a word was heard from those inside the realm and not a soul passed through the gate. Until suddenly small groups of injured and weary stragglers began appearing at the realm's gate, bringing with them tales of the terrible and absolute calamity that had befallen their home. Survivors of the calamity spoke of rumors of a rebellion and of a secret weapon built by their paranoid rulers in order to quell it. While there's no shortage of stories from the survivors of the day that the skies turned black and the lands turned to ash around them, the exact circumstances that led to this terrible tragedy remain unknown to this day. Scouting missions to search both for answers and other survivors were attempted but proved unsuccessful as the blasted lands they found beyond the gate were inhospitable to the extreme and ultimately further forays were deemed by the Hub's council, spearheaded by Gallus, to be a waste of time and resources.
In the years that have followed, tales and rumors about the realms unfortunate fate have only grown stranger and more outrageous in the retelling, even as the survivors of the disaster have largely settled into quiet live in other realms. In the wake of Terra and Verden's return to the Hub however, pressure has been growing upon the Lady of the Hub (Kalista Debrujar) to resume efforts to discover the truth of Kayithran's fate as hopes of finally reuniting the lands in truth have been kindled across the realms.
