Forged by their divine creator for the sole purpose of hunting humanity, Demons have long numbered amongst the most feared creatures to stalk the realms. Possesed of the power to drain emotions from their victims, Demons lurk at the fringes of society driven by a constant hunger to search for unfortunate souls that they might isolate and feed upon. While all Demons feed upon emotion in some form the specific emotions range widely, with some more common examples being that of fear, sorrow, rage, or desire. Typically speaking, Demons are unique among the peoples of the realms in that they most commonly do not posses humanoid forms, ranging instead along the spectrum of bestial and monstrous. Rarely however, individuals develop the ability to take on or are born with a humanoid form, usually appearing as unnaturally beautiful when they do so. These individuals are known as Greater Demons and posses strength and magical ability far beyond that of their kin that comes at the cost of needing to feed upon far more specific emotions, often leading to the enacting of complex plots and traps on their parts in order to create the opportunity for a good meal.
In the days of the Godswar, the Demons were ruled by powerful Lord known as The First Demon, who was, at the time, one of the last of the First-born to walk the earth. However, The First Demon was slain several decades after the end of the Godswar, supposedly by one of his own children, and the Demons realm of Hellas has remained leaderless since; much to the relief of the other people of the realms as the Demons have become much less of a threat without the guiding force of leadership to unite them.
