Born to a Hibernaculum located at The Great Clutch, Okhtus was not particularly special or well bred. Average born in an above average sized batch of successful eggs, he didn't stand out in the crowd of his siblings. When winter came his first year, however, and a majority of his fellow slings did not survive, his incredible gifts began to surface. While spiders of his genus do not spin web for capturing prey, there are a host of other uses for their surprisingly durable silk. Creating drag lines tends to be the first capability of a young spiderling, though this does not usually surface until after a slings first molt in spring. Following the perishing of his siblings, however, Okhtus was able to spin full bundles to help wrap and bury the ones They lost to the winter. Noting his gift with silk, his Mother helped hone his skills until he was old enough to seek more professional instruction. A fast learner, and an enthusiastic one at that, he mastered techniques most took years to achieve by the time he was able to hunt for himself.

By the time he was an adult, he'd surpassed most curriculum and began his training to become the Grand Weaver of The Great Clutch. His first few years had him master the arts and styles of other Anadi tribes and genus, venturing from Clutch to Clutch and spending years at a time perfecting their methods. In so doing he brought them techniques he had learned as well, offering an exchange of skills rarely presented in a generation. It was this exchange that fed his wanderlust. His love for spinning was great, but he'd never felt more passion than in the middle of a great exchange of ideals, skill, and culture. In order to achieve the coveted title of Grand Weaver, it is purely upon the individual to decide when to succeed their mentor, and it is a decision more heavily weighed than even choosing a life-mate. He knew his desire to explore and mingle would lengthen the time before he could rightfully ascend, but he encouraged himself in the reminder that the more he learned of other cultures, the better he would be in service to The Great Clutch. He became widely known for his diplomatic successes as an envoy, not only in the Interwoven Forest, but in the entirety of Anodyne. As such, when a missive arrived to him expressing the desire for him to be their emissary in the first inter-realm foray, he accepted with utmost haste.

Upon his arrival in the connected realms, he was alarmed to find that the portal closed behind him. With no way to get home and no way to know how long until he could, but a mission to fulfill nonetheless, he turned his eyes forward with determination. A new world stretched out before him... Several, in fact.
