Anodyne

Climate: Temperate Geography: Anodyne is home to three distinct areas: The Interwoven Forest, Lake Himmel, and Mount Hyacinth. Mount Hyacinth borders the far East, Interwoven Forest borders the Northwest, and Lake Himmel and the fields around it separate them
The Anadi and the Interwoven Forest: A massive, sprawling stretch of forest where the Anadi make their home. It is the single largest ecosystem in Anodyne, and is home to hundreds of genus of Anadi. While not all genus separate by kind, most intermingling in cohesive Clutches, their communities are permeated through every area of the forest. They farm fungi and pants as well as maintain the carefully constructed ecosystem of their home; during the early days of settlement in the forest it was but a wood until the Anadi used their strong silk and many arms to carefully interweave the branches and roots of every tree in the forest until it became a singular, massive living world for their home. Burrowing genus tend the roots and fungi, arboreal genus tend the branches and canopy, while all others do their part. At the heart of Interwoven is The Great Clutch, the largest community of Anadi and the center of their government and religion. A gigantic oak enhanced by shape shifting magic serves as the anchor point for the entire forest as well as their people, from which all drag lines spin. Major Roles The Grand-Weaver: The Grand-Weaver is responsible for the entire architecture of the Anadi people. Master of every style of spinning, it is their duty to uphold the continued growth and stability of the forest and thereby their people. The Anchor: All communities of Anadi are self governed. As a people they are particularly in sync when it comes to morals and beliefs, and even when individuals diverge there are nearly no cases in which they depart on negative terms, usually seeking out life as an adventurer to find their own way. Still, in the face of an overwhelming crisis or decision, every generation there is an Interwoven Vote. This vote can last for several years, at the end of which the Anadi Anchor is named. The Anchor is given no special amenity or treatment, and are only called to action in times of great strife. The Brood-Bearers: Fathers and Mothers who bear clutches of eggs are treated with great respect in society; not all Anadi couples can bear young, and the determining factor does not regard gender or age so long as the Anadi is a mature adult. All Anadi are born with the potential to become a brood bearer, often but not always dependent on the strength of their silk
