Elven Courts and Houses are inspired and influenced by both their fey heritage and elven philosophy. Most elves choose a group that espouses their particular philosophy or outlook on life. As elves do not worship "gods" per se, their choice of philosophy (see Elven Philosophy ) and Court or House is the closest thing there is to religion as elves see it.
The Courts and Houses align elven society into multi-layered factions and loyalties that may seem confusing to outsiders. Sometimes an allegiance to a Court or House may change, just as an individual's outlook on life may change over the course of their long lifespan, or in reaction to recent events.
