A travelling, nomadic culture that tells the tale that they once left a distant land, fleeing a disaster and a curse.

Most of the members of these groups resemble somewhat normal humans in appearance and demeanor.  Members of other races/cultures sometime join with a traveling Rovyar caravan, and they are treated as full fledged members of the Royvar, as long as they adapt the customs and traditions.

Rovyar are silversmiths, coppersmiths, haberdashers, cooks, weavers, musicians, entertainers, storytellers, toolmakers, and horse traders. They also earn money by telling fortunes and selling information. They spend whatever they earn to support a lavish lifestyle, display their wealth openly as a sign of prosperity, and share their good fortune with family and friends.

Each family or clan of Rovyar is its own little gerontocracy, with the oldest member ruling the roost. This elder carries the bulk of the responsibility for enforcing traditions, settling disputes, setting the course for the group’s travels, and preserving the Rovyar way of life. Rovyar elders make all the important decisions, but whether by choice or because of their age, tend to speak in cryptic, flowing riddles.

Rovyar families and clans are closely knit. They resolve disagreements through contests that end with reconciliatory singing, dancing, and storytelling. The Rovyay are quick to act when their lives or traditions are threatened and are merciless when they believe they must be.

Some Rovyar seem to exhibit a talent in magic geared towards sensing and even travelling through the planes. Some can sense nearby planar portals or roads, others can fey or misty step, with legends saying the most gifted are able to planeswalk from one world to another.

The main form of magic known by the Rovyar is blood magic, blessing (cursing?) some of them with the ability to cast curses or invoke the evil eye.  This and the fact that those outsiders that join the Rovyar undergo a blood ritual when joining the group has led to a general mistrust of the Rovyar people.
