Ebonstone Coast

The Ebonstone Coast stretches along the rugged eastern coast, from the Outlands in the south to the Dzhurova Desert in the north. The waters of this region are deep and clear, revealing glimpses into a hidden world within its depths and  contrasting sharply with the black sand beaches and towering cliffs of basalt. The coast exudes an eerie, otherworldly ambiance that both fascinates and unsettles visitors.

History

Named for the smooth, obsidian-like stones that wash ashore and dot the coastline, the Ebonstone Coast owes its distinctive appearance to ancient volcanic activity from the nearby mountains. Volcanic eruptions long ago deposited layers of black sand and basalt formations along the shore, creating a landscape that appears as if carved from the shadows themselves. This coast has a history steeped in mystery and intrigue, with tales of ghost ships and buried treasures hidden amidst the labyrinthine sea caves and rocky outcroppings.

Geography

Situated below a vast desert and backed by towering mountains, the Ebonstone Coast serves as a stark transition zone between the arid sands and the rugged heights. The mountains cast long shadows over the coast at certain times of day, enhancing its already mysterious allure.

Despite its foreboding appearance, the Ebonstone Coast supports a unique ecosystem of hardy flora and fauna adapted to the harsh coastal environment, making it a focal point for both exploration and natural study.

Culture

Throughout history, the Ebonstone Coast has drawn adventurers, scholars, and artists seeking inspiration from its stark beauty and rich geological diversity. Local communities have thrived by fishing the nutrient-rich waters and trading in exotic minerals and artefacts unearthed from the ancient volcanic depths. The coast is also steeped in folklore and legends, with tales of underwater kingdoms and fearsome sea beasts adding to its enigmatic reputation.
