The Iron Tempest
The Iron Tempest is a massive dwarven warship turned pirate after the mutiny of Dregar Voss. Infamous across the southern coasts for its sheer size and strength, it is said to be nearly unsinkable due to the dwarven plating reinforcing its hull.
Physical Description:
Hull: A hulking blackened-iron structure with patches of rust, giving it a menacing, weathered appearance.
Sails: Dark brown, patched and tattered, with faded sigils of a long-defunct naval fleet.
Figurehead: A large hammer striking a cloud with bolts of lightning flashing from it.
Captain:
Dredgar "Ironclad" Voss, a Dwarf with a wiry gray beard, a mechanical prosthetic arm, and a booming voice. He is a brash and boastful leader who delights in using overwhelming force. Dredgar values strength and cunning above all else and mocks those who rely on speed or stealth. He is rumoured to operate out of Skull’s Reach, though many believe he is supported by a mobile fleet of smaller support ships.
Notable Events:
The Breaking of Vellaran’s Pride: The Iron Tempest sank a heavily armed merchant galleon, claiming its cargo of gold and leaving its wreckage hoisted over a rocky outcropping as a warning to those that would pursue it. The wreck and the outcropping it topped become a notable navigation marker known as Pride Rock . After decades of serving as a grim warning to the southern shipping lanes, the Vellaran's Pride was stabilised and turned into a Sea post and trade mooring, where captains could meet discreetly to pass along information.
